Get ready Champaign!  Friday June 25 & Saturday June 26 is the Urbana Blues, Brews and BBQ 2010 Festival, and it promises to be one heck of a weekend!  Located in downtown Urbana, this free event brings the community together in a fun and entertaining environment.  From cooking demonstrations to educational music sessions to food, beer and lots of live music, it offers something for everyone.  Samuels will be  hosting the  Future Stars Stage.  Designed to teach and promote rising blues music stars, the stage will feature short educational sessions, instrument demos, performances, meet and greets, give-aways, and of course, live music!  Come see us on the corner of Elm and Broadway.

 

May 7 we rocked Effingham with the sounds of local favorite Maylae.  The group performed for over two hours, entertaining about 70 music enthusiasts  with some popular favorites.  Samuel donated hamburgers and hot dogs, Pepsi provided chips and water, and all proceeds raised from the sale of food was donated to the band boosters.

As our Band Representative, Craig Towsley spends most of his time visiting schools.  And this time of year he is lucky enough to see the students in action at many of his stops as they prepare for their end-of-the-year concerts. 





Pictured are fifth-grade band members of the Shelbyville Moulton Middle School .  Craig enjoyed listening to them as they performed for their fourth-grade classmates under the guidance of Band director AJ Gatewood.





Another recent stop was  Robinson Lincoln Elementary School, where Craig caught  band members preparing for a percussion performance with band director Joe Smith.
