Then enter the Show Your Maverick Pride photo contest!  All you have to do is dress yourself, your neighbors, your kids, your pets, your house, your place of business, your car, or anything else in your best blue, orange and white Maverick gear, take a picture, then e-mail the photo to the Alumni Association. Is your student organization looking for money?  Program Assistance Funds are University-granted monies supplied every year to provide campus organizations supplemental funding for their events and attendance to conferences.  Student Congress oversees the distribution of these monies, and applications are available in the Student Congress
 office in the lower level UC, B150, or online at www.uta.edu/sc.

Translating Your Involvement to Your Resume

February 8, Noon

 

Research indicates that employers and graduate schools want to see more than grades or a diploma; they want to know about your leadership experiences that set you apart from other applicants. This interactive session with professionals from the Career Center will help you put your student organization leadership on paper and create a dynamite resume in time for the Job Fair.

[All attendees will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a free bowling party for his or her organization at UT Arlington's Bowling & Billiards.]

Study Abroad Fair

Faculty leaders from the various faculty-led programs that UTA offers will be on hand to provide information about upcoming programs as well as representatives from our various exchange and affiliate university partners abroad. Returned students from last summer, spring and fall programs will also be there so you can talk to them about their experiences abroad.

THE HOMECOMING BASH
Friday, February 10 | 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. | College Park Center

 

For one night, College Park Center will turn into the biggest club in town. Join your friends for a night of free music, in a posh atmosphere unlike any other on campus that will wow and entertain with visual effects, audio and interactive elements that build in intensity throughout the evening with free snacks, refreshments and energy.  Video DJ, Digital Dance Floor, Aerial Acrobatics, Special Entertainment, Karaoke Lounge, Novelty Photos, a karaoke lounge, novelty photos, and live special entertainment.  Admission is free to students, alumni, the university community and their guest. A Night of Soul

Featuring a Performance by the Dallas Black Dance Theatre

Co-Hosted by the UT Arlington African American Alumni Association

Under the direction of Ann Williams, founder/artistic director, the ensemble, a contemporary modern dance company, performs a mixed repertory of modern, jazz, ethnic and spiritual works by nationally and internationally known choreographers.  Enter our door prize drawing for two tickets to the annual African American Alumni Association Banquet to be held on Saturday, February 18th.  No tickets required. State of the Black College Student

Film Screening and Public Lecture with Director Dr. Darryl Scriven

The Division of Student Affairs Professional Development Committee and Multicultural Affairs invite all UT Arlington faculty and staff to a special professional development seminar. The State of the Black College Student is a 30-minute documentary that explores college graduation rates, student loan debt, and skill acquisition through the lens of African American students. "The Roots of Our History" gallery exhibit will include images of prominent African American leaders that helped pave the way for the African American community and our country. The gallery will be open daily for viewing. Join us for a special gallery reception on Wednesday, February 22 at noon, when students will present readings of poetry and speech excerpts from some of history's most notable African American figures. Evolution of Hip Hop

Monday, February 27, UC Palo Duro, 7 p.m.

 

Join the Multicultural Mavericks as we conclude Black History Month in a fun and educational way by taking a look at hip hop's footprint throughout the world! Learn about the history of the hip hop movement while exploring its influence on fashion, music, dance, and more. We will also have a live DJ on the 1s and 2s. You do not want to miss this event!
