Maverick Madness, Organization Development Sessions, Hispanic Heritage Month and MORE!
The beginning of October brings more events and opportunities for our student organizations. We hope to see you out at Friday's annual Maverick Madness for the kickoff of basketball practice for our men's, women's, and Movin' Mavs teams. Bring your friends and represent your student organization for your chance to win T-shirts and prizes. Keep reading for more information.

Register for Parent & Family Weekend
October 21-23, 2011 Deadline for registration: October 19
 Join the Parent & Family Center and the Division of Student Affairs for Parent and Family Weekend, October 21-23, 2011. Activities include faculty spotlights, a fall festival with live music and a live petting zoo, a glass blowing demonstration, a real-life game show, student performances, theatre productions, Lady Mavs Volleyball, Movin' Mavs basketball, and much more! All students and families are invited and encouraged to attend. UT Arlington students and children under 10 are free. All others are $30 per person. Spring Room Reservations
Opening Monday, October 24, 8 a.m.
Plan ahead! All reservations for your spring semester meetings and events will open to student organizations on Monday, October 24. All space reservations are on first come, first served basis. Like always, your Campus Events Planning Sheet will need to be stamped and approved by SGO prior to reserving a room or outdoor space.

MavOrgs Updates:
Event-Related Improvements
1.) There is now an option to export event invitees from the "Manage Invitations" page on any event. (Making it easy to create attendance check-off sheets for meetings.)
2.) The maximum limit for sending a single batch of e-mail invitations to attend an event has been increased to 500. (Making it easier to invite large numbers of people to events.)
3.) The search boxes on the submission pages for Forms will now return results for searches based on the submitter's first or last name. (Giving you one more way to find specific submissions for forms with a large list.) |

Annual Fire & Safety Report Now Available
The 2011 Campus Fire and Safety Report, which includes crime statistics for the previous three years, is available from the UT Arlington Police Department. The report also includes institutional policies about campus security.

Boot Camp

$30 for students/faculty/staff, $40 for others
Get ready to work with this indoor/outdoor class that will incorporate cardiovascular and strength training to challenge your body and help you reach your goals. Fitness assessments are performed at the beginning and end of the six-week program to gauge each person's strength and speed improvement.

Ethical Fitness

Judy Browne, Head of the Shelton Upper School, will present Ethical Fitness: Young Adult Decision Making. Judy has an undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas, and a Master's degree in education from The University of North Texas. Judy is a certified trainer for The Institute for Global Ethics in Maine. Among her responsibilities she has developed of the ethics curriculum for the high school. |

Student Veterans' Workshop Series
University College is proud to offer the Student Veterans' Workshop Series, a new program specially designed to meet the unique needs of student veterans at UT Arlington. This series of workshops centered around building academic success and confronting transitional challenges is presented by a fellow student veteran along with assistance from some of UT Arlington's faculty and staff. All sessions listed below are free and require no advanced registration. If you have any questions or ideas for future workshops, please feel free to email resources@uta.edu or visit the Veterans' Workshop Series website.
All workshops are held in Science Hall room 330 from 12:00 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. unless otherwise specified.

Diversity Lecture Series

The Division of Student Affairs and Multicultural Affairs are pleased to host the Fall 2011 Diversity Lecture Series featuring Mauricio Claver-Carone. Claver-Carone will present his lecture entitled "U.S.-Cuba Policy: From the Streets of Havana to the Halls of Capitol Hill."

Join the Pink Ribbon Run and Help Breast Cancer Research Throughout October
For every mile logged on the pink Cybex treadmills in the MAC during the month of October, 10 cents will be donated by Cybex to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The pink treadmills can be found on the second floor of the Maverick Activities Center. Campus Recreation will display the mileage by each participant and will promote this event through out the month with giveaways! For more information visit www.uta.edu/campusrec |
