Every July, we begin to markdown our inventory of summer merchandise, to help it find new homes with all of you. This year is no different.
Oddly enough, we are now receiving fall merchandise from Carhartt, Columbia and The Northface, to get prepared for the next season, so we need to create the space. It may seem early to you, but every year I remain surprised at how many people actually shop these items while its still warm outside.
BTW, the weather forecast service we use, to help us plan, continues to suggest you will be able to really enjoy the rest of the summer. Warm and dry are the catch words. But watch out this fall, when the weather snaps, it will do so in force and we may all be pining for the "warm" old days together in mid September.
Check out a funny Chinese video I came across extolling the virtues of one of the best selling surplus items in the store, the one and only "Trenching Shovel". We've always got some in stock. I bet you didn't know you could do all this with it. I didn't. There really should be one in every garage, or car trunk, in America.
We received a ton of Vibrams and have the largest selection of them in the metro NY area, as far as I can tell, from checking with the other retailers of this product. Update on the right side about half way down the page

'2010 Gear of the Year' winner
We've all seen Outdoor magazine on the news racks. It really is chock full of cool stuff. If you're like me, you can't wait to read it. I just like to make sure we have the latest and best items offered to everyone, here at the store. Some times we have to scurry to get the new items, but often it's a relief to know we had a clue when we purchased everything 8 months ago..
They have awarded the EMOTION COMET kayak their Gear of the Year award this season, stating " We've seen killer prices on Emotion Kayaks before, but the Comet pairs that affordability with performance. At eight foot three...the Comet tours ( and accelerates) like a boat twice the length and six times the price.."

Rachel Ray needs one of these....
I don't recall how I came across this video a few months back, but it illustrates the allure that shopping in the military surplus area of the store has for many customers. You never know what to expect at the moment. Frankly neither do I, its a real hit or miss thing!
But if you need one of these we have some American GI versions, to go along with the gas masks, hand grenades and ammo boxes.

Bamboo socks keep your feet cooler than other fabrics.
We sell them from Bridgedale. I'm beginning to think I run a produce stand, with all the new fabrics these days like bamboo, soy, and others.
