A Magical Encounter Between Human and Horse, an innovative multi-media and multi-disciplinary production, will have its Calgary premiere on May 25, 2011 under the White Big Top at Canada Olympic Park. The show, which was first presented in 2003 in Quebec, features 49 horses, including more than a dozen lovingly cared-for and stunningly groomed Arabian white stallions. It is a celebration of the natural communion between people and animals. Riders act more as horse whisperers than traditional trainers. In place of meticulously planned routines, performances are largely spontaneous and improvised. Horses respond to the subtle verbal cues and body language of their riders in a moving exhibition of the human-equine bond.
Of course, this doesn't mean that Cavalia is short on spectacular stunts or amazing visuals. The Calgary show, set under a soaring White Big Top at Canada Olympic Park, features jaw-dropping dressage routines, in which riders flip and balance on the backs of their steeds. Many acts are performed without saddle, bridle or other controls, enhancing the spectacle. And the entire show is complemented with a powerful musical score and elaborate costumes.
But for many of the close to 3 million people who have seen the show so far, the program's most memorable moment is when the horses are simply allowed to run free, thundering around the ring in an expression of their majestic power and wild energy. For more information on Cavalia and to purchase tickets, visit the official website at www.cavalia.net or call 1.866.999.8111. ____________________________________________________ |
