Students Teach as Much as They Learn
Student leader, Tyler, saw a need and filled it. On her own time she created a Watershed Report Presentation Manual. We were so pleased with her work that we tested it out during our first day of Watershed College on April 1st.

The successful knotweed treatment program, Stewardship In Action - a partnership between Friends of the Cedar River Watershed, Seattle Public Utilities, King County Noxious Weed Control Program and Forterra - is extending into Renton this spring!

The 2012 project area continues from it's original starting point at Landsburg Dam, but now includes lands from Renton city limits to I-405. We hope to be able to acquire funding to take the project to the mouth of the river by 2014. Read More >

A Passion For Place
The Seattle Foundation's annual giveBIG fundraising day is coming up! We are asking you to join us on Wednesday, May 2 during this 24-hour fundraising challenge. Your donation on that day only is eligible for stretch funds from The Seattle Foundation. This means every dollar you give is s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d into additional funds!
Here are three things you can do right now to get ready:
1) Rally your friends to support The Friends on one of the biggest days of giving in King County history.
Thank you for supporting our major giving campaign for 2012: A Passion For Place, for our watershed and our community.

First Annual Renton Businesses Restore Habitat
Renton business owners care about the river that runs through their community. Several businesses are finding a way to support the work of Friends of the Cedar River Watershed (FCRW) this summer.
As of this writing, eight local retailers are participating in our first annual Renton Businesses Restore Habitat event at Cavanaugh Pond on Saturday, May 26 from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Some will participate in the event and others will offer promotions for the day where part of the proceeds support FCRW. The afternoon will culminate with a casual gathering at the local pub, A Terrible Beauty, at 2:30pm. This restoration will be featured in an upcoming issue of Field and Stream magazine as part of their Hero for a Day series.
To learn how you or your business can participate contact Rebecca.
