Wishes, Wine & Dine
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of South Carolina hosts two wine festivals each year: the Wine Festival at Freshfields Village and the International Wine Festival. Here are the highlights from this year's events- just in case you missed them!

4th Annual Wine Festival at Freshfields Village
Five PointsThe 4th Annual Wine Festival at Freshfields Village kicked off around 6:00PM on May 1, 2010. The event was located at the crossroads of Kiawah, Seabrook and Johns Island. Patrons had the opportunity to sample over 85 different wines from around the world, savor the tastes of authentic Charleston cuisine provided by Lowcountry Eats, and enjoy live music by Phenomena Jazz Trio. Five-year-old Kai from Mt. Pleasant who had recently undergone a heart transplant was granted her wish to go to Disney! The event raised $25,000, all of which benefited Make-A-Wish and will help grant Lowcountry wishes.

10th Anniversary International Wine Festival
International Wine Fest 2010June 12, 2010 marked the 10th Anniversary of the International Wine Festival held in historic downtown Greer on Trade Street. Festival goers had the opportunity to taste over 100 wines from around the world, eat delicious delicacies provided by The Cazbah, and enjoy the international sounds from various musical acts throughout the festival. A live cooking demonstration was also available to learn how to create dishes involving wines featured at the event. Three-year-old Jade from Greer and his family were in attendance to share their wish experience and show everyone what the event was really all about- granting wishes. The event raised $30,000, all of which benefited Make-A-Wish and will help grant Upstate wishes.

Great Escape IMAX Makes Great Contribution
Great Escape Check PresentationThe Great Escape Simpsonville 14 IMAX theatre in the Upstate held a week of charity showings before their Grand Opening on April 30. Every showing was admissible for a $2 minimum donation to Make-A-Wish. Each day local radio stations were present with free giveaways and local news crews were out interviewing movie goers about their experience at the new IMAX theatre.

After four days of charity showings, the Great Escape theatre and movie goers from around the Upstate raised $28,004.00! From this donation Make-A-Wish will be able to grant at least 5 or 6 wishes, making some little wish kids very happy!

A check presentation was held on May 24 to properly thank all sponsors involved and the Great Escape Theatre group. Wish kids Caden from Pelzer and Alexius from Greenville were in attendance as well. Thank you again to everyone involved in the event and for helping to make wishes come true!
