We bring food within reach! Our Rural Food Program is the only program in Sonoma and Lake counties that meets low-income people where their need is - in rural areas where transportation is a challenge.
Volunteers/recipients help sort food at our distribution point in La Luz community center where we serve 100 families every week.

We are asking 1,000 people to donate $25 to help us meet our $25,000 funding challenge - to put gas in the delivery truck and replenish our supplies for the coming "lean" months. Read more
"Scholarship" for care helps family cope
A local men's Cursillo Group wanted to "do something specific" for someone in need. We immediately thought of a new Respite client, a 60 year old man who recently had a stroke and has been diagnosed with both Parkinson's and early onset dementia. With his daughter at college the suggested $60 per day donation for the Respite day program was a challenge. What stress the family is experiencing! The group gave a "scholarship" for a month of Respite care to the family, which was a huge relief and welcomed transition. We welcome volunteer musicians and others at the day center Difficult immigration case approved
A young man applied in 2008 for a special visa for victims of violent crimes for which he was qualified under U.S. law. He had some prior drug problems, which made his immigration case very challenging. However, we worked with him for 4 years to make positive changes. After demonstrating his recuperation, he was finally granted U Non-immigrant Status (U visa). He was beside himself with joy when we told him he could now obtain a social security card and driver's license.
Manuel Rivera (left) recently said, "People trust us - we are unique in that way." He has been with Catholic Charities since 1991.
