Benefits Service Wellness Newsletter  Synod loga

August 2011
Greetings!

I am happy to announce that the Synod is launching our very own free Wellness Program for all of our Benefit Participants!  Through monthly newsletters sent by email, I will be sending healthy articles, health tips, and information from our insurance carriers, as well as other reputable online sources.  My goal is to make this an interactive, fun, interesting, helpful, and HEALTHY program that motivates employees to invest in improving their health!

TAKE AN ONLINE HEALTH ASSESSMENT TEST
As a first step to better health, I would like to encourage Benefit Participants to take a Free Health Assessment Test online.  It is easiest to complete this form with your most recent annual physical exam information on-hand.  If you haven't completed an annual physical recently, I encourage you to do so!  If you aren't a medical participant with Anthem or Kaiser, use your computer's search engine to find free health assessment tests available online.
For ANTHEM BLUE CROSS Members: Register and Take Test
KAISER Members: Register and Take Test
HEALTHY ACTIVITY
How much physical activity is needed to stay in good health? Read these recommendations. What is one of the simplest and most beneficial physical activities you can do to improve your health?  Walking!  Find out how to start a walking program.  Additionally, if you are currently enrolled with Anthem Blue Cross, please shoot me an email for a free walking pedometer to count your steps!

IN THE KITCHEN
In our busy lives, we are often looking for simple delicious recipes for dinner.  Why not make a simple meal that is also healthy? As part of the Synod Wellness Program, we'd like employees' participation IN THE KITCHEN.  Do you have a simple healthy recipe that you'd like to share?  If so, please email [email protected] with your name, church name and location - I will post your recipe on one of my future emails.  For now, here is a recipe for Baby Carrots with Tarragon and Grilled Pizza with Pesto, Tomatoes, and Feta, provided by www.realage.com. And remember,

If a Benefit Participant has any particular health topics that you would like to learn more about, please email me and I will work on including these topics in future emails.  Also, I have sent a copy of this email to Church Emails for Benefit Service Information.  Please forward this email to your Synod Benefit Participants in case they have not yet provided me with their email address.  They can send their name & email address to [email protected] to be added to my Wellness Program email list.

Best wishes to your Good Health!
