Greetings!
We would like to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and to thank EVERYONE for their support of The Clearity Foundation and women with ovarian cancer. From good old fashion hometown support to generosity and encouragement from new faces, we cannot possibly express the magnitude of our gratitude. Here are some highlights that we are thankful for:

We Are Thankful For DavidBartonGym
| In September, trainers, staff and patrons of DavidBartonGym rallied their support and raised more than $100,000 for The Clearity Foundation and the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. In honor of David Barton's sister, Dr. Diane Barton, who lost her battle to the disease, he proclaimed September 22nd, 2010 as Diane's Day. His entire training staff volunteered their time to train member and non-members alike for the fundraising effort. We are thankful for their time, energy and generosity. We Are Thankful For Our Grant
|
The Clearity Foundation has been providing access to tumor molecular profiling for ovarian cancer patients for over two years. Clearity has established a database that tracks the results of the profiling as well as patient outcomes. In the course of providing these services, we interact with patients and doctors. Our experience has convinced us that more patients could benefit if we collected and consolidated the evidence, posted it on our web site, and shared it with other ovarian cancer organizations. Recently, we were awarded a mini-grant from the California Dialogue on Cancer to do just that! This will help educate physicians and patients regarding the existing evidence for the use of molecular profiling tools to prioritize treatment decisions for recurrent and refractory ovarian cancer patients. We are in the process of gathering this evidence from the literature and we will be posting it on our web site next year along with more details about our database.

We Are Thankful That We are not Alone in the Fight
|
Ovarian cancer receives a fraction of the funding for research, early detection and new treatments compared to most other cancers yet has worse statistics. Perhaps because there are fewer survivors to be advocates for the disease. We need all the support possible and we are thankful for other organizations who help. On September 23, Clearity Founder Dr. Laura Shawver returned to her hometown of Davenport, Iowa, as the inaugural speaker for The Women's Connection, Women Changing the World speaker series. That afternoon, Royal Neighbors of America sponsored and educational event and fundraiser, "What Color is Your Cancer, Getting Personal about Personalized Medicine" for people interested to learn about molecular profiling or "tumor blueprints." Laura would like to thank everyone in the Quad Cities who turned out for these events (more than 350 people) and for more than $10,000 in donations to The Clearity Foundation. A Special Thank You to all the women with ovarian cancer, their loved ones and their physicians who inspire us to continue the fight and work harder each day.

We Are Thankful For Your Donations
|
Thanks to your help we can continue to provide tumor "blueprints" to mothers, daughters, sisters, and best friends who are battling ovarian cancer and are faced with treatment decisions. We know this would not be possible with out your support, so thank you. If you would like to donate, click here.

Meet Johnny
|
We are thankful that we can provide more tumor blueprints and that we can add staff to help support our growth. Meet Johnny Ngyuen who works part-time for Clearity in accounting.
Johhny understands first- hand the impact of our efforts after experiencing the generosity of similar-minded organizations when his mother could not afford treatment for her breast cancer. When he is not balancing the foundation's books Johnny can be found taking dance classes around San Diego and singing in his church's choir.
Johnny earned his degree from UCSD in Environmental Systems with an emphasis in Ecology, Behavior and Evolution. Johnny also works part-time for Finance Department at UCSD Housing and Dining.
