News for Friends of The Bridge Teen Center

January 2011

Dear (Contact First Name),

We are happy to report that since June, The Bridge Teen Center has had over 500 visits from students representing more than 12 local schools.  As we enter the Spring semester, we are excited about the unique programs and events on The Bridge's calendar.  Please check out the information in this newsletter and share it with people you know.  There are tons of amazing free opportunities for students and parents at The Bridge, but we need your help spreading the word!

FAFSA

The Bridge Teen Center is hosting a free FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid) clinic for parents of high school seniors and college students on Saturday, February 5th from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM.  This free event is part of The Bridge's "College 101" series, and is intended to give parents a forum in which they can gain valuable insight about what is out there to help pay for their student's college education.  The clinic, which will be facilitated by Illinois Student Assistance Commission, will contain two elements:

1)  Parents can sign up for a one-on-one session (with free morning/afternoon snacks) for guidance in filling out the required FAFSA online or by mail.  Laptops will be available to fill out the FAFSA online. Parents are asked to bring all related 2010 tax paperwork.

2)  Parents can also sign up for a financial aid workshop (with free lunch) to find out all that is available to help pay for college.  Our lunch workshop lays out for parents the financial process, finding scholarships, avoiding scams, how FAFSA works, etc.

Parents are asked to sign up for the free one-on-one sessions and financial aid workshop in advance.  Sign up is available online, or call Amy McGrew, Program Director of The Bridge Teen Center, at 708.532.0500.  Special thanks to the sponsors of this free event, Trinity Christian College and Chick-fil-A in Orland Park.
