We are SO busy preparing for the arrival of the USS Canon we almost forgot to send you a January message.   YES, we know it is February 1 -- but here it is.

This is a quick message on a couple of topics.
 
Due to personal issues both Debbra Voss & Chris Kennedy have had to step down; but rest assured several candidates are being interviewed to find the right match and short term Dan Gill has agreed to continue as treasurer so we don't miss a beat.
 
On another topic:  WINSA is having a January/February Clearance Sale.   We have several items in our inventory from previous initiatives including items from our efforts towards acquiring the Des Moines and the Edson.    We will be offering those items at a significant reduced price to make room for our current goal of acquisiton of the USS Canon.  Watch our web site -- they will be available there shortly.

VICE ADMIRAL DAVID ROBINSON TO VISIT SHEBOYGAN
D Robinson Vice Admiral David Robinson was the Commanding Officer of the USS Canon while she served in Vietnam.  There were two significant battles on the rivers of Vietnam.  For this action, members of her crew were rewarded for their heroism with three Silver Stars, five Bronze Stars, a Navy Commendation Medal and fourteen Purple Hearts.  Vice Admiral Robinson will be visiting in Sheboygan for a few weeks this coming March.   You have an opportunity to host a private reception for friends, or you can sponsor a table at our dinner at the Sheboygan Yacht Club the evening of March 25th.

SEA CADETS

Cadets
Drill dates for February are the first and third Saturday starting at 0900. ALL are welcome to attend.   Come watch them drill at the Aviation Center at Sheboygan County Airport.
 Cadets
 Founded in 2008, Training Ship Abingdon was       established to provide a resource for children in the Sheboygan,  Ozaukee and Manitowoc areas.

With children aging from 10-14, the NLCC helps it's members by providing them with a positive peer and a structured mentor environment with   emphasis on the 3 core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment.

SPONSOR A MILE  &  HONOR THAT VETERAN KEEPING US SAFE

One of the major expenses of bringing the USS Canon to Sheboygan is the cost of the towing.   Why not consider sponsoring a mile ($125) of this 3,200+ mile trip from Pennsylvania to Sheboygan.   Wisconsin Naval Ship Association is a 501c3 and donations are tax deductible.   Send checks to WINSA/NAVMEC 3120 S.
