Balancing gut microbiota with Original XPC

A healthier bird, whether broiler, layer, or turkey, will be able to handle pathogen exposure better than a bird under stress. Stress can be caused by management or environmental conditions and result in an immune compromised bird.

 

Since most pathogen exposures occur within the digestive tract, it is important to maintain a healthy gut environment. Previous research conducted with Diamond V Original XPC™ has shown the unique nutritional metabolites help balance the immune system, preparing the animal to handle stress. Recent research has now shown that Original XPC can also help modify the gut environment by increasing volatile fatty acid (VFA) production and potentially help suppress growth of the pathogen Salmonella enteritidis.

 

Developed by the Research and Innovation Center at Diamond V, IAMM is an in vitro procedure that measures the changes in microbial activity indirectly with markers such as VFA, ammonia, and pH. The microbial populations are sourced from fresh poultry excreta to represent the complex microbial population found in the lower gastro-intestinal tract, when measured in the Intestinal Activity Modifier Model (IAMM).

New layer trial data summed up in three words: volume, size and quality

When we take our science on the road, you can bet that our data generally will drill down to at least one of three things most important to poultry producers: volume, size and quality. Any one of these performance parameters means a potential upshift in net profit results. This month,the trial we're featuring hits all three.

 

Our newest research abstract, distributed at last month's Poultry Science Association conference in St. Louis, shows solid improvement in production volume, egg quality, and egg size among layers fed Diamond V Original XPC during a 24-week trial.
