Greetings!

Hello!

This year I am in charge of our J-Term program at MCS and, with J-Term just a month and a half away (Monday, June 7-Friday, June 11), I wanted to see if any parents would be interested in teaching or team-teaching (with another parent or teacher at the school) one of our J-Term courses.

For those of you unfamiliar with our J-Term program, it is a one week program in June (hence, "J"-Term) where the 7th-10th grade students get to take 2 courses of their choice that are of particular interest to them.  These courses are taught during the last week of the school year, following the week of final exams.

Since each student takes 2 J-Term courses, we break the classes up into a morning session and an afternoon session.  To get an idea of the basic structure of the classes, here is a TENTATIVE schedule for part of the week:

For Monday and Wednesday:
8:15-10:00 Morning class
10:00-10:15  Break
10:15-11:30 Morning Class
11:30-12:00 Career Speakers
12:00-12:30  Lunch
12:30-2:00  Afternoon Class
2:00-2:15 Break
2:15-3:10  Afternoon Class

For Thursday and Friday:
8:15-10:00 Morning/Afternoon Class
10:00-10:15  Break
10:15-12:00 Morning/Afternoon Class

Click HERE for a list of potential course offerings for J-Term.  The classes listed were either taught at some point in the last several years or were suggestions from students.  You'll notice that the courses are divided into two categories: "Core Academics" and "Extracurricular."  Our goal is to have each student choose 1 "core academic" J-Term course as well as one "extracurricular."

If you have any interest in teaching one of these courses (OR YOU HAVE AN IDEA OF YOUR OWN THAT IS NOT ON THE ATTACHED LIST), please e-mail me at TZara@MacombChristianSchools.org.
Thank you for considering being involved!
