State Take Stock in Children news

With new leadership at the state legislative level, many changes hang in the balance this year for Take Stock in Children:

-The Florida Prepaid Foundation has a proposed budget of $2.6M this year, compared to $4M last year, a 40% reduction in available matching funds. These funds make it possible to match scholarship dollars, doubling our purchasing power.

-The state is projected to cut local program funding by 15%. This is on top on reductions made for the past three years.

-The price of a 2 plus 2 college scholarship has risen from $8,000 three years ago to almost $27,000 this year, making it nearly impossible to provide this type of scholarship in the future.
