 We need YOU for the Holmes PTA Board!!

Given the school district's budget crisis, the PTA is needed now more than ever.  The PTA helps to maintain curriculum and vital programs that enrich each of our children at Holmes.  Our annual election takes place in March 15, 2012.  All PTA Board positions are elected annually.  Please consider volunteering for one of these available positions!!  If interested, please contact Leigh Connor-Moyers, the Chairman of the Nominating Committee.
 
Each year we need parents to fill the leadership positions and each year a new PTA Board is elected:

VP Programs (School programs & assemblies)

VP Ways & Means (Fundraising events)

VP Membership (Annual membership campaign)   

VP Communications (Print and electronic media)

Secretary (Meeting recorder)

Congratulations to the students of Mileage Club for helping us reach our goal of 3793 miles, and to the destination of Alaska! 

 

The Traveling Trophy is awarded to the 2nd Grade class with the most miles for January, 2012. With a total of 296 miles, Congratulations to Room 8, Mrs. Wadleigh's Class!

 

The 3rd Grade class with the most miles for February, will be awarded the traveling trophy on Monday, March 5th.

Tour Innovation Middle School

Innovation middle school Article Subheading Holmes' parents have an open invitation to tour Innovation Middle School (better known as "iMiddle").  Principal Harlan Klein and Vice Principal Nicola Labas will conduct school and classroom visits one Friday each month.  As you hopefully know, for 7th grade, Holmes' families have the dual option of attending either iMiddle or Marston Middle School.  Holmes' students who attend Marston in 6th grade are expected by current District policy to remain there through 8th grade, unless an Enrollment Options (Choice) application is submitted and approved for 7th or 8th grade and cannot be guaranteed.  We do, however, save a spot for all Holmes' incoming 7th graders for automatic enrollment at iMiddle and hope to attract you to our incredible technology embedded program, with the district's first 1:1 school to home laptop curriculum for all students.

Movie Night, March 16th 6 pm (auditorium)

Free Family Movie Night!
Please join us for a G rated Family Movie, March 16th at 6pm, in the Holmes Auditorium. 

This is a free community event for all to enjoy.  This is NOT a drop off event. Children will need an adult with them to attend.  

Food and drink will be available for purchase starting at 5:30.  Please bring blankets, pillows or low chairs to sit on, just like in the park.  

The PTA is requesting a donation of a ream of copy paper to help support our school.  This is not required to attend the movie, but would be greatly appreciated :)
