| We need YOU for the Holmes PTA Board!! | |  Article SubheadingGiven the school district's budget crisis, the PTA is needed now more than ever. The PTA helps to maintain curriculum and vital programs that enrich each of our children at Holmes. Our annual election takes place in March 2012. All PTA Board positions are elected annually. Please consider volunteering for one of these available positions!! If interested, please contact Leigh Connor-Moyers, the Chairman of the Nominating Committee. Each year we need to parents to fill the leadership positions and each year a new PTA Board is elected:

VP Programs (School programs & assemblies)
VP Ways & Means (Fundraising events)
VP Membership (Annual membership campaign)

Congratulations to the students of Mileage Club for helping us reach our goal of 3520 miles, and to the destination of Alaska!
This Tuesday we will begin our trek back to Holmes Elementary.
Token's will be distributed on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month (Feb. 14/28, Mar. 13/27, Apr . 10/24, May 15/29)

| Family Friday, this Friday 2/3 | |  Article Subheading
Parents are invited to meet with Principal, Jonathan Saipe in the auditorium from 9:00-9:35am to get updates about district/school news, learn a simple yet effective reading strategy, and have an opportunity to share ideas on how to make Holmes even better. From approximately 9:35-10:00 a.m. parents will go to their child's classroom to read or participate in a learning activity. The Holmes PTA will provide Starbucks Coffee.

Holmes Parents have an invitation to tour Marston Middle School. Vice Principal Alex Nguyen will conduct school tours one Friday each month. The tours are from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and are on:

| Mathnasium 6 to 8 pm, at February 3rd | |  Article SubheadingWho's ready for some math? All kids of all abilities are welcomed to compete, to learn, and improve their math sense February 3rd, 6 to 8 pm at Marston Middle School
This is not a test, but a fun, engaging way for kids to develop their intuitive mathematics. $10 gets your child a chance to compete for prizes. There is also a raffle.

Thank you to all the families who attended Family Movie Night and an extra thank you to those who donated paper. The paper drive will continue for the next week. Please feel free to drop off any donations in the classroom or in the office.
We hope to do another Family Movie Night in March. If anyone has any feedback for the next event, please feel free to contact our Community Events Chair, Chris Herndon at or pass it on to any PTA board member
