With the turning of the calendars, we are again looking to the future. We are currently looking for parents to form the nominating committee so that we can select next year's PTA Board. Click here for information on getting on nominating committee.
Also, even if the joining the Board isn't in your future, it's never too late to join the PTA as a member.

Spring Fling Planning Committee
| | Article SubheadingHolmes Elementary's 50th birthday celebration will be this Spring. We are looking for volunteers to help with planning this FREE fun filled event. It is open to students, parents, friends, family and everyone in the community. If you would like to be involved with planning or volunteering in any one of several ways, please contact Chris Herndon, Community Events Chair. |
| Cheer Clinic | | Article SubheadingClairemont High is having a cheer clinic, Saturday, January 14th. $20 gets your child a 4 hour clinic. Participants get to do a cheer and perform with the varsity cheer squad of Clairemont high on Friday, January 20th. Click heren for further details and registration form. |
| Mileage Club! | | Article SubheadingTime to make good on that New Year's resolution and what better way than to run with the young?
The Token days for January 2012 are on Tuesdays, January 3rd and 17th at 8:30AM.
The Traveling Trophy will be awarded February 1st to the 2nd Grade class with the most miles logged for January 2012.

5th Grade Fitness Test
| |  Article Subheading All 5th grade students will be taking the California State Fitnessgram® Test as early as February! In an effort to improve our 53% score, fitness-minded parents are teaming up to design and implement a supplemental fitness program. 5th graders will be coming home for the holidays with "healthy homework" to jumpstart their progress.
Parents you can keep off holiday pounds and have fun with your kids by doing homework together! (To see the healthy homework assignment click here.)
If you are interested in improving our kids (or your personal) fitness in the new year please contact Valerie Norris or Lisa Johnson.

| Family Friday | | Article SubheadingParents are invited to meet with Principal, Jonathan Saipe in the auditorium from 9:00-9:35am to get updates about district/school news, learn a simple yet effective reading strategy, and have an opportunity to share ideas on how to make Holmes even better. From approximately 9:35-10:00 a.m. parents will go to their child's classroom to read or participate in a learning activity. The Holmes PTA will provide Starbucks Coffee. Here are the Family Friday dates for the 2011-2012 school year. See you there! |
| School Tours | | Article SubheadingWe will be holding tours for parents interested in Holmes on December 9th, January 10th and January 20th. Tours will begin with an orientation in the auditorium at 9:00 a.m., immediately followed with visits to the classrooms. |
| Junior Theatre | | Article Subheading
The Wizard of Oz is the play that the children will be learning. Wednesdays from 1:20-2:50 pm for 10 weeks, your child can participate in the fun, confidence boosting activity. The program runs from Wednesday, 1/11/12, to Wednesday 3/15/12 (10 weeks)

eScrip is an important part of our fundraising program. We ask that every family help us make the grade in our fundraising goal. And the best part is it will only take a few minutes of your time. Your grocery club card, your debit card, your credit card all earn the school money without any effort on your part, once they are registered. If you have already registered, please go back online and RENEW current cards or add any new cards not registered. REMEMBER TO ASK FRIENDS, FAMILY AND NEIGHBORS TO REGISTER TOO!
