Workshop
Home Yoga Practice Workshop
with Paul Busch
It is every sincere yoga teacher's wish that their students develop and maintain an effective and enjoyable home yoga practice. Establishing or refining a personal practice can be very challenging. Working with those challenges has rewards, and can even be seen as part of practice.
In this workshop, we will explore the why, what, how, when, and where of practice. We will look at obstacles to practice and how to overcome those obstacles. The workshop includes a five-page "working" outline, as well as other handouts and exercises. The exact emphasis of our afternoon will depend on the needs of those attending. Follow-up assistance with your home practice is offered for those attending.
Saturday from 3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Jan. 21, 2012

New Teacher, New Class
Beginning Yoga for Posture
taught by Terri Bigelow,
starts Mon. Jan. 2, at 10 a.m.
Fundamental yoga postures and modifications are introduced with the goal of counteracting habitual daily movements that contribute to common postural imbalances such as rounded shoulders and a forward head. Focus is on awareness, stretching and strengthening of key muscle groups to improve daily standing and sitting posture.
Teri has been practicing yoga for 18 years and has taught yoga for the past 5 years. She received her 500 hour yoga occupational certificate from Scottsdale Community College in 2007. She continues to attend classes and workshops with highly regarded teachers in the Iyengar style. Teri is currently pursuing her education as a physical therapist assistant with plans to combine yoga with physical therapy once she is licensed in 2012.
Private Lessons with Terri
Sessions are one hour and a lesson plan is developed based on the student's concerns. Detailed written instructions of the work we do is provided after the lesson so the student can practice and absorb the information on their own.

New Teacher, New Class

Yoga for the Not so Flexible
taught by Nancy Giguere,
starts Wed., Jan. 4th at 10 a.m.
In this beginning class, students will learn fundamentals of yoga postures and breathing, as well as practical techniques to release tension in mind and body, and they will begin building strength and flexibility. It's perfect for stiff people of all ages.
Nancy, a freelance writer, began studying yoga in her late 50s. This December, she completed her 200-hour certification training with master teacher Scott Anderson through Alignment Yoga. She plans to continue her studies in Alignment Yoga's 500-hour program. "Yoga is for everyone, not just the young and limber," she says. "It's a powerful tool that can help us calm down and relax-something everybody can benefit from. I look forward to helping students discover its benefits for themselves."

Paul's Postulations (An on-going series of topics explored using principles of yoga and Ayurveda.)
Granting Immunity - Part ICold and flu season can get us thinking about how to stay healthy. The immune system (which is easy to take for granted) may give us some insights into how to promote better health and perhaps help us reduce the incidence and severity of any illness we do experience. A healthy immune system is important throughout the year.
