Welcome to the Saint Paul Yoga
Center's Fall Newsletter!
Greetings!
This has been an exciting Fall for the St. Paul Yoga Center with many workshops ranging from the anatomical details of yoga poses, to the power of breath and the elixir of devotional music. We also are fortunate to have ongoing classes for different age groups, from children to the elders of society. There is a Donations Only class on Sundays at 2:30 to make the dream of practicing yoga accessible to everyone. We also serve populations that don't always feel included in the stereotypical yoga class. This Fall we started offering Full-Bodied Yoga for Women (Fridays at 5:30 p.m.).
Heads up: A new 7 week session starts Sunday Oct. 29th and goes through Dec. 17th. We hope to see many of you in class. We look forward to being of service.
On October 23rd the St. Paul Yoga Center celebrated its 17th birthday! We had a full house in both studios that day: a Family Yoga class, a Donations Only class and a Breath Workshop - how we have grown!
What amazing gifts have been given and received . . .
With gratitude,
The St. Paul Yoga Center

Singing Meditation is the practice of singing simple chants and rounds from different spiritual traditions and then dissolving into silent meditation between songs. As we let sound inhabit the body, it becomes the instrument, the mind is quiet, and the heart opens. Words will be provided, songs will be taught and repeated many times. All are welcome (no prior singing experience necessary). For more information contact Katy@thewingedheart.net www.thewingedheart.net

Sunday, Nov. 20, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. You'll learn about the basic types of muscle contractions and stretches. This information will extend through the rest of the course sections offered. We'll also work with how the arches in the feet and the shins and calves move in asanas.Registration deadline: Nov. 15 - Section 2: Thigh, Pelvis & Glutes
Sunday, Dec. 4, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. From identifying the relationship between the quads and hamstrings to establishing the difference between hip flexors and hip rotators, you'll discover how these areas relate to asana. Registration deadline: Nov. 30 - Section 3: Abs, Back & Neck
Sunday, Dec. 11, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. From establishing the difference between the transverse abdominus and rectus abdominus, to delving into the tension-filled areas of the quadratus lumborum and the trapezius, you'll design your own sequences of asana to address these areas. Registration deadline: Dec. 6 - Section 4: Shoulders, Chest & Arms
Sunday, Dec. 18, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. We'll examine the rotator cuff and learn why it's often injured. We'll then study the pecs, biceps and triceps and learn how this area all comes together to form some "mighty fine" asanas. Registration deadline: Dec. 13
