Thanks to the brave men and women of the Baltimore City Police Department, Baltimore has become a safer city. With the help of our statewide law enforcement partners, we can further reduce crime and make all of Baltimore's neighborhoods safer.
On Tuesday morning at 5:00 am, the Baltimore Police Department and partner law enforcement agencies kicked off the Summer Jumpstart Warrant Initiative. Throughout the month of June, law enforcement officers and agents from the Baltimore Police Department, Baltimore City Sheriff's Office, Maryland State Police, Division of Parole and Probation, and the Department of Juvenile Services will team up to form eight dedicated warrant squads.
The Summer Jumpstart Warrant Initiative is supported by a public safety grant of $151,803 provided by the Governor's Office of Crime Control & Prevention. The funding will support all overtime costs associated with the initiative.
The squads plan on serving 1,000 warrants for crimes of violence, including gun crimes, violations of probation, sex offenses, and domestic violence. Juvenile warrants will be served to youth who are likely to become victims or perpetrators of violence.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at my website or by email at mayor@baltimorecity.gov. You can also follow the Mayor's Office and be a part of the conversation on Twitter. |

Sincerely,
Stephanie Rawlings-Blake Mayor, City of Baltimore
