| This summer, one of the nation's premiere law enforcement organizations, the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), will come to Baltimore for their 34th annual conference and exhibition. Over 2,000 law enforcement professionals from across the globe will assemble in our city to train for keeping the citizens of the world safe. We are excited for the opportunity to welcome NOBLE to Baltimore from July 7-15.
Founded in 1976, NOBLE members represent the top levels of command in city, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies around the country. Their mission is to ensure equity in the administration of justice, and provide solutions to crime issues facing all communities.
It is fitting that NOBLE chose Baltimore for this year's conference. Baltimore's first African-American Police Commissioner, Bishop Robinson, is a founding member and past president of NOBLE. What's more, over the past decade our city has recorded significant decrease in crime, most recently achieving a 20-year low in homicides. The brave men and women of the Baltimore Police Department have much to share with members of this important organization.
At the conference, attendees will attend workshops with subjects including re-entry and mentoring partnerships, grant writing, firearms trafficking, gang prevention, and my personal favorite-women as leaders. Law enforcement professionals from Nigeria and the Caribbean will join officers from across the country in these workshops.
In addition to activities taking place in the conference, attendees will hold a march in honor of fallen police officers on June 14th. The march will begin at the corner of Biddle Street and Kenwood Avenue and end with a vigil the Israel Baptist Church. Officers will be dressed in their uniforms. I encourage Baltimore residents to gather along the route to show their respect to the men and women who have committed and sacrificed their lives on behalf of the communities they serve. |

Sincerely,
Stephanie Rawlings-Blake Mayor, City of Baltimore
