Director of Animal Management Hired
The Turtle Survival Alliance is pleased to announce that Cris Hagen has been hired as the organization's first Director of Animal Management. Cris will begin on October 1 and will be responsible for the strategic development and management oversight of turtle assurance colonies to support our conservation mission. Cris' extensive background includes a mixture of herpetoculture, animal collections management, biological sciences, field research and environmental education. His captive husbandry experience spans roughly half of the world's chelonians and he has successfully bred 40 species from six families. Cris has been an active member of the TSA since its inception and we are pleased to have him join the organization in this official capacity. Strategic Planning Workshop in India
The Indian Turtle Conservation Programme (ITCP), a joint initiative of the Turtle Survival Alliance (TSA), Madras Crocodile Bank Trust (MCBT) and San Diego Zoo, in association with Uttar Pradesh Forest Department, will organize a national workshop dedicated to turtle conservation entitled "Indian Freshwater Turtle and Tortoises Conservation Priority Areas and Initiatives". The workshop will be held from 22 -24 October 2010 in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh.

| Texas Turtle Workshop
The TSA is sponsoring the 2010 Chelonian Symposium - a joint meeting of the Dallas / Fort Worth Herpetological Society and the Texas Herpetological Society on October 15 and 16. The icebreaker event will take place on the evening of the 15th at the Dallas Zoo and will feature a keynote address by Dr. Peter Pritchard.
