TSA Members Honored

clemmysCongratulations to Bern Tryon (Individual Member) and the Knoxville Zoo (Institutional Member) for being honored recently by the AZA. Bern, director of herpetology, was chosen as the AZA's North American Conservation Award Significant Achievement recipient for the Tennessee Bog Turtle Program. The Bog Turtle Program encompasses the study of bog turtle populations in natural sites, wetland restoration projects to expand habitat, and educational programs to further the understanding of these threatened animals. One of the most important components of the program has been the successful captive-breeding of bog turtles at Knoxville Zoo and their
release into bogs in the upper East Tennessee area. Read the full press release here.
Pardon our Cyberdust

We are hard at work on a brand new website, which will launch this fall. In the meantime, the current site has been scaled back significantly, but the membership sign up and renewal pages are still functional. We will announce when the new site is up and ready for exploring in the very near future!
Have an Affinity for Turtles?

kroger_logoThe Turtle Survival Alliance is launching several affinity fundraising programs over the coming months. By participating, you can help raise funds for turtle conservation by just doing what you do every day such as grocery shopping or banking!

The first is available through Kroger grocery stores, and is limited to Texas and Louisiana. If you live in one of these states, you can print the form found here and take it to Kroger next time you go shopping.  This form will link your Kroger Plus Card to the TSA and a percentage of the money that you spend will be dedicated to turtle conservation!

Don't live in Texas or Louisiana, but know someone who does? Please forward this message to them so they can participate. Know of a similar program in your home state? Email information to HLowe@turtlesurvival.org and if we are able to participate, you will receive a free t-shirt as a thank you gift!
