Wildlife Week in India

camelcartThe TSA India team recently celebrated Wildlife Week with a series of events aimed at educating local people about the conservation of turtles and other aquatic species. They even took the show on the road, using a camel cart to travel more than 100 kilometers in total, to spread their message. Local musicians and puppeteers joined in the fun, performing shows with a conservation theme that were developed especially for this event. Have Turtle Questions?

The TSA would like to share news of an upcoming event sponsored by the Turtle Conservation Centre (TCC) in Malaysia. The TCC will be running a "Turtle Blogathon" to raise funds for the newly-established organization, as well as to to disseminate information and increase awareness about marine and freshwater turtles. The public is invited to send them any questions relating to marine and freshwater turtles to be answered during the 24-hour blogathon. For providing answers, the TCC is asking for donations from the public to support their turtle conservation projects.

The Turtle Blogathon will begin at 9pm on October 25 and end at 9pm on October 26, 2009 (Malaysian time, GMT +0800). For those in the US, that translates to 9am EDT on October 25 to 9am EDT on October 26. They will be blogging for 24 continuous hours at the TCC website. For more information, please click here.
Only a few days left!

Planning for the 2010 Conference is already underway and we need your help! Please click here to take a very short and easy survey to help in our planning efforts. The survey will be available until Monday, October 26. Thanks to those of you who have already participated.
Have an Affinity for Turtles?

The Turtle Survival Alliance is launching several affinity fundraising programs over the coming months. By participating, you can help raise funds for turtle conservation by just doing what you do every day such as grocery shopping or banking!

Today's partnership is available through Tom Thumb / Randall's grocery stores, and is limited to Texas. If you live and shop in Texas, this form will link your Reward Card to the TSA and a percentage of the money that you spend will be dedicated to turtle conservation!

Don't live in Texas, but know someone who does? Please forward this message to them so they can participate. Know of a similar program in your home state? Email information to HLowe@turtlesurvival.org and if we are able to participate, you will receive a free t-shirt as a thank you gift!
