Animals Available
The TSA has several animals available to TSA members who are interested in playing a part in key captive breeding programs. If you would like to participate by breeding one of these species, please send a brief letter of interest that outlines your qualifications, facilities and experience with this or related species to Dwight Lawson, dlawson@zooatlanta.org.
One captive hatched Burmese brown tortoise (shown), Manouria emys emys. He is a 2004 hatch and is about 14" long, weighing approximately 2.5 kg. This tortoise is available for permanent adoption for $200 or best (better!) offer. Please consider supporting the TSA's conservation programs for Manouria in Myanmar by adopting this great animal. 2.2 captive hatched impressed tortoises, Manouria impressa. Temperature-sexed 2009 hatchlings are available on long-term breeding loan to individuals with experience with Manouria or similar species. This is a great opportunity to get involved with this species as captive hatched animals are relatively easy to maintain. One 2009 captive hatched Forsten's tortoise, Indotestudo forsteni, available on long-term breeding loan. This species is in serious trouble in the wild, and captive-based programs are becoming increasingly important. Several eight to ten inch Fly River turtles, Carretochelys insculpta, available on breeding loan.
