U.S. Communities Purchasing Program
|
|
At today's Cook County Board Meeting, Commissioner Gregg Goslin sponsored a resolution in support of increasing use of the U.S. Communities Purchasing Program among all County offices and agencies.
U.S. Communities is the leading national government purchasing cooperative with over 42,000 participating agencies from both the public and nonprofit sectors. The program requires no user fees and supplies contracts competitively bid by a lead public agency.
Cook County has been a member of the U.S. Communities Purchasing Program for two years and has so far underutilized this purchasing cooperative, spending just over $43,000 in FY 2009 and approximately $414,000 in FY 2010.
This resolution directs the purchasing agent to find ways to promote the use of this cost-saving program.
This resolution was sent to the Finance Committee.
