Goslin Appointed to Serve on Green Government Initiative
Recognized for his commitment to environmental issues, Commissioner Goslin has been tapped to serve on the Green Government Initiative of the National Association of Counties. This prestigious initiative serves as the center of information for all things green. Its charge is to assist counties with efforts to protect and improve the environment while saving tax money and improving services.

As chairman of the Cook County Chicago Botanic Garden Committee, Commissioner Goslin will host a group of county officials from around the country interested in learning more about the Garden's integrated environmental design and green building standards later this year.

"It is an honor to serve in this capacity." said Commissioner Goslin, "I am looking forward to helping inspire and educate counties about the value of intentionally considering energy efficiency, renewable and alternative energy, green building, air quality, water quality and land use."

2009 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy
The 2009 update of the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) was approved by the County Board at yesterday's  County Board meeting.  The Cook County Economic Development Advisory Committee put together this report on the previous year's economic activities and effectiveness, to identify changes and trends in the region's economic conditions, and to present the economic development goals and activities for the coming year.

The 2009 CEDS meets the requirements of the Economic Development Administration (EDA) to qualify Cook County, Chicago and suburban jurisdictions within its boundaries as eligible to apply for EDA funding of economic development projects.

For more information about the 2009 CEDS, please contact John Schneider at 312-603-1070.
