Cook County Disaster Grant to Support Flood Victims
|
The Cook County Disaster Grant (CCDG) has been established to
assist businesses, families and individuals who were impacted
by the severe storms and flooding that occurred between
September 13th,
2008 and October 5th, 2008.
As a result of Presidential Disaster Declarations, FEMA's
public and individual assistance programs provided support
immediately following the floods. As helpful as these programs
were, they did not address many of the human services needs of
Cook County residents and businesses. In recognition of this, the US Health and Human Services Agency
is providing additional Social Services Block Grant (SSBG)
funding to impacted Illinois counties, specifically for health
and human services needs.
Services will be provided to help with unresolved health and social welfare issues
resulting from the storms and flooding that occurred
between September 13th, 2008 and October
5th, 2008. Such services may include mold remediation and home repair.
The need
must be related to the severe storms and flooding that
occurred in the specified time period, and be deemed necessary to meet the health care or social
service needs of people affected by the
disaster.
The grant cannot be used to reimburse individuals for fixing their homes or for
any expenses they incurred and paid for themselves, even if
they have receipts.
For more information, eligibility guidelines and application forms,
please visit the Cook County Disaster Grant Website or call the CCDG
hotline at 312-603-7600.
