Summer is here.  Ready for the beach?
Keep cool in some new shades

Whether you wear glasses or contact lenses or have no vision correction, everyone knows the harmful effects of of ultraviolet radiation.
It is important that we protect ourselves from the uv rays. The harmful effects of the sun may contribute to early onset of cataracts, pterygium and macular degeneration, not to mention the risk of skin cancer.
At Optical Zone, we are concerned about your eye health, and  therefore recommend good sun protection for everyone.   There are options such as sunclips (magnetic clip ons to be worn over your eyeglasses),  photochromic lenses (ie Transitions),  lenses that turn light to  dark outdoors, an ideal option for children and people on the move.  and polarized sunglasses,  which are very effective especially with water and snow activities.  They are ideal for that beach and ski vacation.
Access the links above to see which is the right option for you.  We offer many brands of designer eyewear such as Nike, Maui Jim,  Michael Kors, Gucci and Serengetti.

Say goodbye to eyedrops !

We are excited to inform you about our new digital imaging instruments.   We now have the capability  to take pictures of your retina.   This will give us a wide view of your retina without the use of eye drops.  Regular retinal exams are very important for our diabetic and hypertensive patients and patients that we are following for glaucoma.  However, this is an excellent screening tool in detecting any eye or systemic disease in patients who have a family history of systemic disease or eye disease.   Retinal imaging will allow us to have a permanent digital record of your eyes and allow us to monitor any early changes with your eye health.  The tests are noninvasive, take  little time and best of all in most cases will not require any eye drops.   That means less time off from work, and no need to find a personal chauffeur to drive you home.
