 celebrated the league's fifth season  before a league-record 2,280 fans
at the DC Armory. Scare Force One defeated the Cherry Blossom Bombshells 156-97.

Up for 2011 Season

 

Black and Red open season at
RFK Stadium March 19 

 

They're baaaack! D.C. United return to action this month in preparation for the 2011 season. The team will train in Florida, California and South Carolina before hosting the Columbus Crew in their season opener at RFK Stadium on March 19 at 7:30 p.m. ET. United have a new head coach in former player Ben Olsen and recently unveiled a red-hot alternate jersey for the upcoming season.

ShamrockFest '11 returns to the RFK Stadium Festival Grounds featuring 45 bands and DJs on 10 stages. Live performances include popular Irish rock band Dropkick Murphys, Carbon Leaf, Lost in Paris and Scythian. Just added to the 'Fest lineup is DJ Pauly D. DJ Pauly D is also famously known for his exploits on the hit reality show "Jersey Shore". Early bird tickets are still available but the price can increase at any time. Don't miss out!

Volleyball Classic5th Annual Capitol Hill

Washington Convention Center

The 5th annual Capitol Hill Volleyball Classic returns to the nation's capital with
over 550 girls volleyball teams from around the country competing in the three-day tournament over President's Day weekend. More than 25,000 people are expected to invade the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, including nearly 100 collegiate volleyball coaches. The Marketplace will be open throughout the weekend with a choice selection of vendors including Nike, Under Armour, adidas, Asics, Mizuno and Rox. This year's tourney features the addition of two boys divisions for the first time. Weekend passes are $15, daily passes are $6.

DC Rollergirls Doubleheader

Grab your sweetheart and head to the DC
Armory for a DC Rollergirls doubleheader February 5. The DC All-Stars open their season against the Dutchland All-Stars of Lancaster, PA followed by a league bout between the Cherry Blossom Bombshells and DC DemonCats. With a victory, the 'Cats will secure a spot in the 2011 League Championship bout for the fourth time in five years. 

Doors open at 3 p.m., and the action begins at 4 p.m. Tickets are $12 for ages 12 and up, $6 for ages 5-11, and FREE for kids 5 and under.

Old School Hip Hop Meets 
Go-Go at the DC Armory

Get your groove on at the DC Armory with
your favorite old school hip hop and go-go artists. The 'Old School Hip Hop Meets Go-Go' concert is going down March 19 featuring performances from go-go legends Chuck Brown, Be'la Dona and Experience Unlimited along with hip hop greats Kool Moe Dee, Kurtis Blow and Whodini. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Tickets are priced at $65 for general admission and $75 for VIP access. VIP tix include floor seating and exclusive access to a meet and greet at the DC Armory prior to the concert from 5-7 p.m.

Super Bowl XLV. Title towns collide in Super Bowl XLV as the Pittsburgh Steelers face the Green Bay Packers at Cowboys Stadium on February 6. The Steelers and Packers have combined for nine Super Bowl titles, with Green Bay winning three and Pittsburgh capturing a league-high six Lombardi trophies. Kickoff is 6:30 p.m. ET on FOX.

. DC Fashion Week returns February 21-27 with an exclusive sneak peek of Fall/Winter collections from designers all over the world. The week-long series of events spotlights fashion design, clothing merchandising and modeling and the influence of the world on American fashion. 2011 Washington Auto Show. D.C.'s got hot rides. The 2011 Washington Auto Show returns this year with more than 700 new makes and models from over 42 manufacturers at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center thru February 6. This year's show has expanded from five to ten days, giving visitors ample time to explore the latest and greatest in automotive technology. Wizards Make Slam-Dunk Debut.
 JaVale McGee of the Washington Wizards will be the franchise's first-ever player to participate in the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest February 19 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Tune in for the weekend's festivities February 18-20 on TNT.

 
53rd Annual Grammy Awards.
 The biggest night in music has some D.C. flavor. The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards air live on CBS from Los Angeles on February 13 starting at 8 p.m. ET.
