Cape Cod Clothing and Food Drive

The Staff at Family Continuity's Hyannis Office have been busy organizing a clothing drive to assist local shelters, churches, and other community organizations to help citizens of Cape Cod.  Jen Mourhess, clinician at Hyannis Home-Based Program, decided to organize this effort after learning that local organizations were trying to meet a higher demand for basic needs.  We send many of our clients to these community resources and we want to ensure that there are supplies for them.

Lyn Chafetz, Program Director for Hyannis Home-Based Program, launched a Food Drive back in January when she witnessed first hand how low supplies were at a local food pantry.  "I was dropping off food at my local food pantry and saw how long the line was on a freezing cold Saturday morning.  When other kids are home watching cartoons, other local children are standing in line to get the basic needs in life: food and clothing.  People are generous at giving food and donations to food pantries around the holidays, but families are in need every month."

Feel free to stop by our Hyannis office at 60 Perseverance Way to drop off a non-perishable item or organize a food drive at your office!  You will be amazed at the results.

Commission on the Status of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

Family Continuity will be attending a series of Listening Sessions organized by the Commission on the Status of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren.  Our clinicians work with many families where the grandparents are the primary caretaker of their grandchildren and want to ensure that the Commission understands the many needs grandparents have in this role.

The Commission on the Status of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren was established to help grandparents with legal, educational, health, economic and emotional issues.  Commission members will be at the listening session to hear your concerns and ideas and to assess the needs of grandparents raising grandchildren.

The first session will be held on Monday, September 14th from 6:30 to 8:30pm at the Bourne Memorial Community Building at 239 Main Street, Buzzards Bay.  Please call 508-759-0654 for more information on this session or to register.

Supporting family success in every community by empowering people, enhancing their strengths, and creating solutions through partnerships to achieve hope, positive change and meaningful lives.

Agency Values: Family, Community, Advocacy, Leadership, and Change

Treatment Philosophy, founded on the belief that positive change is always possible:

*  The most effective treatment provides a continuity of care, acknowledging that connected, relevant supportive services to clients/client families promote recovery, stability, self advocacy and permanency in the midst of changing needs.

*  Therapeutic change occurs in the context of a dynamic treatment partnership between clients and helpers that is founded on choice, respect, honesty, and a shared responsibility for and participation in the development of solutions.

* Effective treatment is empowering and strength-based, recognizing that all clients possess resources for change and that change is possible when these resources are utilized.

* Creating meaningful lives starts with identifying goals and connecting that to individualized, flexible and creative treatment planning that incorporates a client's family/community relationships, culture, and context.
