CBHI Services Now Available |
Family Continuity is working in partnership with other agencies throughout the state to implement services directed by the Children's Behavioral Health Institute (CBHI). These services are fully funded by MassHealth and currently are ONLY available to MassHealth members including those served by MBHP (Massachusetts Behavioral Health Partnership), NHP/Beacon (Neighborhood Health Plan), Fallon HealthCare, BMC (BostonMedicalCenter) Health Net Plan, Network Health. Services are organized to help parents and children get the mental and behavioral health services they need when they need it and where they need it most-their homes. The CBHI supports a wide variety of services, all focused on involving the family in giving their choice and preference, including: Family Support and Training (Family Partners ): Family Continuity has been approved as a provider through the CSA- starts June 30, 2009
Family Partners help parents and caregivers to help their children achieve their treatment goals. Family Partners are parents or caregivers of children with special needs themselves - they've "been there," understand what families go through, and can share their experiences. Therapeutic Mentoring Services: Family Continuity has been approved as a provider - starts October 1, 2009
A therapeutic mentor works one-on-one with a child or youth who, because of their behavioral-health needs, require support and coaching to learn social skills, including better ways to communicate and get along with others. In-Home Therapy Services: Family Continuity has been approved as a provider- starts November 1, 2009
In-Home Therapy Services provide intensive therapy for a child and family to treat the child's behavioral-health needs and help the family support the child in the home. Family Continuity has been embracing this model of service for decades and is pleased to be able to partner with other agencies to ensure families have proper access to care. We are currently MassHealth approved to offer Family Stabilization and Treatment (Home- based support) and Outpatient Mental Health Clinic services. A child does not need a referral to obtain these services. Don't hesitate to reach out to us for more information or to make a referral! Family Continuity is accepting new clients today. Contact us at 1-866-219-3320. For a full list of services we offer visit Family Continuity Services. For more information about CBHI, go to CBHI. |
Tool Kit |
A new website and booklet from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism could help many people reduce their risk for alcohol problems. Called Rethinking Drinking, the new materials present evidence-based information about risky drinking patterns, the alcohol content of drinks, and the signs of an alcohol problem, along with information about medications and other resources to help people who choose to cut back or quit drinking.
About 3 in 10 U.S. adults drink at levels that elevate their risk for alcoholism, liver disease, and a diverse array of other physical, mental health, and social problems according to the Institute.

Real Stories |
Real Stories are submitted by clients who want to share the success they had thanks to the support and services provided by Family Continuity.
PATRICK'S STORY I would like to tell you the story of my son Patrick. I have been a single mother his whole life. Our journey through the system began when my son was in elementary school and was a very active, perhaps overly energetic child. I brought him to a therapist and he was diagnosed with Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). As he got older, he became more frustrated with authority and began to be disrespectful towards teachers and myself. His therapist and psychiatrist began to talk to me about the possibility that he may have a mood disorder in addition to his ADHD. Read Patrick's Story of Success. |

Family Continuity's Mission Statement:
Supporting family success in every community by empowering people, enhancing their strengths, and creating solutions through partnerships to achieve hope, positive change and meaningful lives.
Agency Values: Family, Community, Advocacy, Leadership, and Change Treatment Philosophy, founded on the belief that positive change is always possible:
* The most effective treatment provides a continuity of care, acknowledging that connected, relevant supportive services to clients/client families promote recovery, stability, self advocacy and permanency in the midst of changing needs.
* Therapeutic change occurs in the context of a dynamic treatment partnership between clients and helpers that is founded on choice, respect, honesty, and a shared responsibility for and participation in the development of solutions.
* Effective treatment is empowering and strength-based, recognizing that all clients possess resources for change and that change is possible when these resources are utilized.
* Creating meaningful lives starts with identifying goals and connecting that to individualized, flexible and creative treatment planning that incorporates a client's family/community relationships, culture, and context. |
