Mother's
Voices on how we fund child care
|
The New Brunswick Child Care Coalition is coordinating a new initiative called the
Mother's Voices Project. We believe that mothers have the solutions to
improving child care programs in New
Brunswick and want to tap into their expertise.
The project
includes a number of workshops throughout the province this fall. During these
workshops, participants will look at different ways to fund child care and will
discuss what will work in their community.

Helping young children learn is the best investment we can make
Vancouver
Sun - Sept 17, 2009
While British Columbians and our media focus on the provincial debt and
budget deficits, we are ignoring a critical economic issue that could
cost our provincial economy more than $400 billion over the next 60
years. (Byline: Paul Kershaw, Lynell Anderson, Bill

Statistics Canada on Births in 2007 Government of Canada Website Canadian women gave birth to 367,864 babies in Canada in 2007,
up 13,247 or 3.7% from 2006 and the fastest annual increase since 1989.

Canadian Press - Sept 22, 2009
OTTAWA - Women across most of Canada had babies at a higher rate
and a later age in 2007, an increase that child-care advocates say
will continue to fray the national patchwork of early education.
More babies are being born in New Brunswick

FREDERICTON - More New Brunswick
woman gave birth in 2007, according to numbers released Tuesday by
Statistics Canada.
That's encouraging for government
officials trying to encourage growth in the province's population,
but worrisome for others who fear more burden being placed on an
already strained child-care system.
