SmartTip
Did you know you can...
Create a new and linked layer from a selected set?
Sometimes it is helpful to work with a subset of records in your service location layer, like when you want to look at one route at a time, or you want to get creative with symbology without disturbing the original layer's symbology. This capability allows you to create a new linked layer so that any data updates are made in both layers, but to change the symbology in the linked layer only.
To create a new, linked layer:
- Make a selection of the records you would like to use in the new layer.
- Right-click the selected layer in the table of contents.
- Go to the Selection menu and choose "Create layer from selected features."
Once your new layer is created, you can work on the map or in the table to update data or change the symbology of the copied layer as desired.
