You Are Not Alone
|
Back in 2000, Tom Hanks starred in a movie called Cast Away, in which he played a FedEx
executive who is stranded on an uncharted island after his plane crashed. In
his role, Hanks is forced to undergo both a physical and an emotional
transformation to survive.
Throughout the movie we see Hanks learn, strictly by trial
and error, and often painfully, what he will need to do to secure his basic
needs - food, shelter, clothing. At times, it is excruciating to watch. But
it's a great film that speaks to the triumph of the human will - with nothing
but his own wits, natural resources, and some scant supplies he salvages from
the wreckage, he overcomes, survives, and is eventually rescued.
If you haven't seen the movie, I advise you to check it out
(and not just because it's helping me to make a point here). But this isn't a
movie review, and you don't have to know the movie to get my point.
At RouteSmart, it's excruciating for us to learn that our
clients sometimes struggle unnecessarily. Over the years, we've heard too often how a client
had a question or faced a challenge but never called to seek help from us
because RouteSmart wasn't "broken." If there wasn't an error message on the
screen, it wasn't a problem for RouteSmart to solve, or so the thinking went.
Let's face it - route planning by its very nature is a
challenge. You have to manage the expectations of management and your
customers. You have to pull together data and information from sometimes
multiple sources. You have to use not just the tools we build for you but also
your knowledge of your operation and any other relevant resources to produce a
solution that works. And once you're "finished" you still have to sell it to the field.
Fortunately, and unlike Tom Hanks, you are not alone.
We knew we had to find ways to make the challenge of route
planning easier for you. And so we have developed, over the years, a suite of
resources and services that are available to you, to help you to not just
survive but to thrive. How many of these resources have you used?

you, consider registering for a complimentary webinar or checking out My
RouteSmart. Use your eXpert Services hours. Start a LinkedIn discussion topic. But don't struggle, and don't feel like you're out there on your own. We're here to
