Today, ESRI announced the availability of ArcGIS 9.3.1 Service Pack 1. As always, we are committed to maintaining compatibility with the latest ESRI releases; however, each new release requires thorough testing to ensure compatibility. Please do not download this update until we notify you that RouteSmart for ArcGIS is fully compatible with this service pack.

All of us at RouteSmart Technologies wish all of you a healthy and happy holiday season. |
 |
A Decade of Change |
It's hard to believe the "nought" years are behind us now, let alone another calendar year. It has been a tremendous decade for RouteSmart Technologies in the form of change as one looks back. Not to get all nostalgic on you, but when I reflect on where we were entering the year 2000 (remember that scare!) and where we're going into 2010 and beyond, I can't help but get "sentimental" with respect to the evolutions our organization has gone through in those years, and how all of this is setting us up for continued success. For those of you who have been with us that long (and many of ya have!) you'll remember that....
Going into 2000 we were finally getting really solid with our offering on the ArcView 3x platform, and we were also writing a lot of letters certifying Y2K compatibility. Today, we are solidly entrenched on the contemporary ArcGIS platform and the only ESRI business partner to offer a product that maintains consistency with the ESRI life cycle.
Back in 2000 it was yours truly who did pretty much all the selling (oh sure, Larry helped too!). Today, we have a seasoned team of business development professionals who have tremendous experience and understanding of the unique operations requirements found within our industry segments and how to align our offerings to meet these challenges.
Back in 2000, we had a couple folks in tech support and tracked calls in an informal fashion. Sometimes Susan and Roy would call you back on a case (not that they would be shy to do so today). Today, we use a sophisticated CRM system to not only track the status of all tech support cases to ensure follow-up on issues to resolution but also to log and track ideas you suggest to us for improving the product.
Back in 2000 we were still building product based on who shouted the loudest. We still debate passionately here in the office, but we also invest a lot of effort in understanding not only the unique features you want in the software as enhancements but also new ways to take advantage of the core technology that fuels our solutions.
Yup, that's a big difference, and I could go on and on about other changes as if you were looking at a narrated slide show of someone else's family vacation. But all kidding aside, it is important to reflect on where we've been and point out that despite the economic storm we're all weathering, RouteSmart Technologies remains strong and uniquely positioned to continue to not only evolve but also progress. And with this decade in the books, I think you'll agree with me that you're in good hands with us as a vendor who will continue to deliver for you.
So looking forward we've got nothing but good things to get excited about. Looking back at where we've come from, you should have no reason to doubt that how we evolve over the next decade will only enhance our solution offering to ensure the results you've come to expect.
Happy Holidays from all of us at RouteSmart Technologies!
Sincerely,
Christopher Walz
Vice President

Update on RouteSmart for ArcGIS 2010 |
|
Software companies and those in the computer software industry are often known for their "creative" spelling - sometime it's the company's name, sometimes it's their product. Occasionally they get creative with other terms - who ever thought up the term "WYSIWYG" anyway? And who came up with the professional networking site "Naymz"?
Creative? Yes. But is this practice confusing for others who don't work in our industry? Very likely.
At RouteSmart Technologies, we say "enough."
So it's time for us to come clean. In last month's issue of SmartDirections, we fell prey to this practice ourselves. You see, sometimes software companies also misspell the names of the months. In our November issue, when we wrote that RouteSmart for ArcGIS 2010 was planned for December, we forgot that not everyone outside of the software industry would know that the conventional, more accepted spelling for "December" is actually "February."
Same great, new features, same product. Just look for it in "February."
We regret any inconvenience this industry practice may have caused and vow to use only standard spelling in the future! |

INTERSECT 2010 Goes Virtual! |
|
The INTERSECT Users' Conference is the highlight of the RouteSmart year! Clients from around the world come together to network, share ideas, and learn about best practices, new features, and product direction. The case studies and Industry Roundtables - our most popular sessions - are packed with great information to help you learn new approaches to solving your routing problems. This is an event you don't want to miss.
Our primary goal in hosting the INTERSECT conferences is to give all of our clients a chance to learn - from each other and from us. But let's face it - times are tough, and travel budgets are even tougher. And not everyone can afford to be away from the office for a week. We're all doing more with less.
So how do we reach more people yet still respect the realities of the current economic climate? We go virtual!
Mark your calendars - join us, virtually, September 13-14, 2010. Here's what you can expect:
-
Same great content.
-
Same great speakers (your peers).
-
Attend from the office, home, or anywhere!
-
Sessions will be recorded and available to all attendees.
-
Want industry-specific content? Attend only the sessions you choose.
-
Want to attend in your pajamas? We'll never know!
-
More information will be coming soon as we firm up the agenda, but plan on "attending" this great event. And if you'd like to be a presenter at INTERSECT 2010, please contact us now!
