Is Your Software Up to Date?
|
|
Your RouteSmart maintenance entitles you to many things - technical support, complimentary conference registration, and complimentary eXpert Services hours to name a few - but perhaps the greatest value you receive as part of the maintenance agreement is access to software updates. RouteSmart is committed to continual investment in our software products to ensure compatibility with the latest operating system and GIS updates.
Keeping your software current allows us to support you better, and gives you access to the latest and greatest tools and workflow enhancements that help to improve your productivity. On average, RouteSmart provides at least two software updates per year with many new features and functionality created by listening to our clients. In addition, most releases contain updates to existing tools when we uncover the exceedingly rare software defect....
Some of our most recent enhancements:
- Export Wizard - allows you to export data from any layer into several different formats (RouteSmart for ArcGIS)
- Improved Set Segment ID and Side - now matches on address attributes to ensure the correct street is selected (RouteSmart for ArcGIS)
- Maximum Service Separation - helps to ensure that both sides of street are serviced within a certain period of time (RouteSmart for ArcGIS)
- Street Notes - allows you to provide guidance to field staff directly on the reports whenever they travel in a specific direction on a street segment (RouteSmart for ArcGIS and RouteSmart WebAccess)
- Switch Street Side - allows you to move the service locations from one side of the street to the other, such as when routing to newspaper tubes on the alternate side of the street from the house (RouteSmart WebAccess)
- Compatibility with the latest ESRI software - allows you to take advantage of the latest ESRI software - specifically the integration of Bing Maps within your RouteSmart workspace
- Multi-route viewer capability in WebAccess 4.0 - allows you to see one or more routes on the Web-based map, categorized by route ID. You can view routes individually or as a group
At any time you can check to see whether you have the latest version installed by going to the Help Menu and selecting "About RouteSmart...." You can also easily determine our latest release by visiting our Web site and checking out our product compatibility chart ( http://www.routesmart.com/uploadedFiles/Product_Compatibility_Chart_2009.pdf). - Current RouteSmart for ArcGIS release: 2009.0.2
-
Current RouteSmart WebAccess release: 4.0
Clients who are current on their RouteSmart software maintenance may request an update by emailing us at service@routesmart.com. Make sure you take advantage of the latest technology - upgrade today. |

Free Training on Your Desktop - Updated Schedule!
As we mentioned in last month's newsletter, Routing University now includes complimentary Virtual Campus classes where you can learn about new features, functionality, and best practices directly on your desktop, at no cost to you.
The Skill Builder Series will begin on August 5th, 2009, with the first topic focusing on Creating Postal Code- or Zone-Pure Routes. In many cases, to optimize newspaper routes, ad zones or postal code boundaries must be respected to satisfy requirements of advertisers. RouteSmart uses the region field to create routes within this boundary to prevent a carrier from having to deliver two versions of the paper. This training course will give the user the knowledge to optimize routes and respect these boundaries using RouteSmart for ArcGIS. While this feature is most often used in the newspaper industry there are other uses for Regions beyond newspaper oriented routing processes so all are encouraged to attend this seminar.
Skill Builder Series
Topic: Creating Postal Code or Zone Pure Routes Date: Wednesday, August 5, 2009 Time: 11:00 AM, ET Presenter: Aaron Nuffer, RouteSmart Consultant
Success Series We started with our first Success Series webinar on July 9th, hosted by Marie McKeeth, Senior Environmental Specialist for City of Folsom. Turnout was great and Marie did a fantastic job.
As a reminder, we are looking for RouteSmart clients to host this series so if you have a great story about your success with RouteSmart, please email us at RoutingUniversity@routesmart.com. Our next webinar will be held in October. Each 30- to 45-minute session will highlight the routing challenges, solutions, and lessons learned in high-impact routing projects. Packed with information and best practices, the Success Series sessions are a great opportunity to learn from the success of your peers.

When you attend a Routing University seminar at our corporate offices in Columbia, Maryland, you will benefit from learning in a hands-on, collaborative environment with other RouteSmart users, sharing ideas with our staff and your peers. We're putting the finishing touches on our Course Catalog for the 2009/2010 year right now, but see below for some upcoming dates: Seminar Series Class: New User Express Price: $3100 Days: 5 Dates: August 3-7, 2009
