GIS State Coordinator
Greetings!
The WV Association of GIS Professionals was formally incorporated in March 2007 as a non-profit professional organization.  The association was organized for the public benefit for educational and scientific purposes to promote and support geospatial professionals in the effective use and sharing of geospatial information throughout the state of West Virginia.

I hope that you find this newsletter informative and interesting.  Our next membership meeting will be at the WV GIS Conference on Wednesday, June 9, 2010.  I look forward to seeing many of you at the conference and annual meeting.

Sincerely,WVAGP

GIS-Surveying Resolutions

GIS-Surveying Common GroundIn 2009 the WVAGP membership approved two resolutions related to GIS and surveying.

The first resolution was the approval of a map disclaimer policy to encourage geospatial professionals to appropriately cite data sources on hardcopy maps.

The second resolution  approved that the "Inclusions and Exclusions of Surveying Practice" as prescribed in Section 210.25 of the NCEES Model Rules, dated August 2008, be incorporated into West Virginia  legislation. The WV Society of Professional Surveyors has passed a similar resolution.  Learn more.
