The search for our new School Director is on .... and progressing smoothly under the direction of our Search Committee and Barry Rowland, Senior Search Consultant at Carney Sandoe & Associates, a national educational search firm. The Search Committee is comprised of all Board members and two additional elected teachers, Lorna Gomes and Barb VanDerKamp. The position announcement has been circulated nationally and in Hawaii. More than 65 resumes from candidates in Hawaii, on the mainland, and in the far East and Europe have been received. Based on the position description, Mr Rowland will select 20 to 25 candidates to forward to the Search Committee in early March. From this pool the Search Committee will select and rank up to ten semi-finalists. Mr. Rowland will be on campus from March 20 through 25. He will conduct focus groups with parents and staff to help us craft significant questions to include in the semi-finalist interviews from March 22 to 24. From these interviews, the Search Committee will select two or three finalists who will be invited for two-day visits on campus to interact with parents, teachers, staff and Board members. These visits will take place in April or May. Finally, a new school director will be selected. Our goal is have the new school director in place no later than July 1, 2011.
