School Board News
Late last month the 5th in the series of Finance Forums was held with several
parents in attendance. The meeting resulted in the formation of five task force groups. Each group has been charged with creating a business case for their potential fundraising idea for our school. The five themes/ideas are:

·    Requesting Donations from all parents per semester
·    Summer Enrichment programs to generate income
·    Auction/Raffle of large ticket items
·    Grants- large corporate providers
·    Branding/private sector sponsorship-contributions

These business cases will be presented to the Board at the December 15th board meeting and a decision will then be made on which ideas are viable and how we will proceed.

It is critical that you attend the December board meeting as we need 100% parental involvement to strategize and to try and find ways to continue on our mission of educating our students without layoffs or furloughs to classroom teachers that would disrupt classroom learning. State budget cuts will continue for the next several years and we need to be prepared to find funding from alternative sources. As an incentive to attend this meeting and to show your support for our school and its future academic excellence, our Principal has agreed to shave his head at the student assembly the next morning if we have a parent from EVERY household attend the meeting! 100% Participation!!!

Please contact Janny Gibson, Chair of the Board Liaison Committee, at Jannygibson@gmail.com if you were unable to attend the last forum. She will gladly sign you up for a task force and you can then begin to contribute your time, talent, and energy to this worthy cause.

From the Principal's Desk
Thanks to all of the parents that were able to attend a conference with your child's teacher. It is very helpful to meet in the fall and layout the groundwork for the school year. This year we revisited some of our "best practices" and had
some student led conferences where they shared their goals and objectives with their teachers and parents. This was very successful and may be expanded in future conferences. If at anytime you would like to convene a meeting to further discuss your child's progress, please don't hesitate to contact the office or your child's teacher.  Our goal is to ensure their overall academic and personal success!

Please continue to get involved in volunteering your expertise in assisting with our fundraising initiatives as outlined in the Board section above. Attend the November and December meetings and help us craft a plan. We cannot move forward without your assistance.

Health Room Notes
The seasonal flu vaccine clinic was held today.
Remember, slight flu like symptoms may occur in your child after the vaccine. This is not the flu, but the body building up tolerance/immunity. A sore arm is
also a common side effect. If your child is complaining of these symptoms you may want to keep them home from school.
