Dear Parents, Teachers, and Staff
At a special school meeting on July 29th, parents, teachers and staff were invited to meet with Board members to discuss budget priorities for 2009-10. This meeting was the second of several meetings being held in July and August for the purpose of identifying potential savings for this current school year 2009-10 and means of generating additional revenue. These meetings are in addition to the regularly scheduled finance committee meetings where school finance is discussed.
Attached(click here) you will find a draft of parent suggestions. At our next meeting on August 12, parents will rank their ideas based on feasibility and potential value to the school. Thereafter, the ideas will be submitted to the school community for feedback. Finally, the Board will seek to incorporate the highest ranked recommendations into the 2009-11 school budgets.
This process is intended to build consensus and understanding of the school budget in our school community.

-- Year's first PTA meeting - August 13th at 8 AM in the Library -- Nominations are being accepted for all PTA Board positions for 2009/2010. President, Vice-President (2), Treasurer, Secretary, and Membership
Nominations will be accepted until Monday, August 24th.
- If you are willing to put your name in for a PTA Board position, and you are a paid-up PTA member, please email: LanikaiPTA@gmail.com and cc: Ann_Pederson/lanikai/hidoe@notes.k12.hi.us. Include your name and the position you are interested in and a few words about your qualifications for that position.
- Membership forms will be available at the meeting and in the school office. They may be turned in along with your annual dues ($20) at the August 13th meeting. After that, membership forms may be put in the PTA drawer in the school office.
- Ballots with candidate information and instructions for returning your ballot will be sent out on August 26th to all parents and staff who have signed up and paid their membership dues.
- Voting by ballot will take place between August 26 and September 8th. Ballots will be counted in the library at school on September 8 at a time to be announced. All members are invited to be present for the counting.
- Results will be posted on the website immediately, and new board members will meet to take up their duties at a mutually arranged time before the next PTA meeting in September.
Please join the PTA as a general member if you are unable to serve on the board! We'd like 100% parent participation!!

Hot Lunch Update- We will not be distributing order forms this year. Simply stop by the office to order and pay for the month before 8:30 am the first school day of the month. Menus and pricing are located in the office. If you are unable to stop by the office give us a call and we will be happy to assist you with your monthly lunch/milk order.
