AN INVITATION
Cancer patient navigators throughout Georgia are invited to attend a one-day conference at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Atlanta, on Sunday, July 26. The program is planned as part of GASCO's annual meeting; however, you do not have to be a member of GASCO to attend.
The program's faculty is well known for their groundbreaking work in all areas of cancer patient navigation. Speakers will address issues including: the economics of navigation; models serving a variety of communities (urban, rural, suburban, low income) and a variety of cancers; navigator training options; roles for navigators from varied backgrounds (survivors, nurses, financial counselors, social workers, lay people); and research confirming the value of navigatrion. They will share lessons learned from their extensive experience.
The conference will end with a work session on creating a Cancer Patient Navigator Organization in Georgia sponsored by GASCO.
Thanks to a grant from ASCO, there is no charge for attendance, but space is limited and advance registration is required. |

WELCOME
Dr. Matt Mumber, President, GASCO
"Thanks to a grant from the Association of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), GASCO and the GCC together were able to assess the needs and interests of Georgia's cancer patient navigators. The survey showed a strong interest in pursuing an educational conference and forming a statewide organization for cancer patient navigators. We believe that an organization under GASCO's auspices would support cancer patient navigators by providing opportunities for networking, sharing resources, participating in continuing education, securing board representation and obtaining access to a lobbyist," says Dr. Mumber. "We invite you to be a part of this process." | |
Please FORWARD this message to your colleagues involved in Cancer Patient Navigation in Georgia.
