A key role of the Georgia Cancer Coalition is to facilitate statewide collaboration of individuals and organizations involved in cancer prevention, detection, treatment and research. The Coalition serves as a Connecting Point, linking government agencies, academic institutions, civic groups, corporations & health care organizations together to pave the way for Georgia to become a national leader in cancer control. The attendance of Distinguished Cancer Scholars and Cancer Research Awardees funded through the Georgia Cancer Coalition is vital not only to the success of the Cancer Research Symposium but to Georgia's Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan which aims to strengthen existing cancer programs, support new initiatives and accelerate progress.
