Impressive response to BOOST initiative request
|
|
In response to the recent request for information release by the Boost Initiative, we were excited to see that 48 organizations responded -- especially since many of these groups offered to provide their own funding for theses school-community partnerships.
Here are the details: there were 72 projects proposed, and 82% of these projects have partial or full funding attached. Of the 48 respondents, 44 (92%) are area nonprofits and 37 (77%) are CWYC members!
Thanks to the Boost Initiative for their leadership and to all the respondents for their commitment to youth success. We can't wait to see what happens next!

| "College, Career & Beyond" neighborhood events |
|

Working together as a coalition, we sponsored a series of 3 dinners in the Hill neighborhood in April. We invited high school students and families to plan for their High School Success, College Success, and Career Success.
Many thanks to the 31 people from 18 organizations who planned these events, and the 57 community members who attended the dinners. Survey feedback indicate that 91% of participants said the event was useful or very useful to them.
We plan to host a second round of dinners this fall in the Dixwell/Newhallville neighborhood. Please contact us if you would like to help with these events.
"After this event, I plan on using my school tutors, guidance counselors, and library more often... This was a great boost of motivation!"
