Orange Grove Fire Station Open House (Saturday July 28, 10AM-2PM): Orange Grove's new fire station is open! You're invited to an open house to see the new substation and learn how Orange Grove Fire Company is helping to improve public safety and homeowner insurance costs. Mountains-to-Sea Trail Briefing (Monday, August 13th, 6-8 PM): The county has rescheduled its meeting about plans for the mountains-to-sea trail through Hillsborough and rural areas of Orange County, including the Eno River, Seven Mile Creek, and Bingham Township. "Unfinished Garden", Reading and Book Signing (Wednesday, August 29th, 7 PM): Author and neighbor Barbara Claypole White is presenting her new novel, "The Unfinished Garden". Inspired by rural Orange County, the novel is set at a successful woodland nursery near Maple View Farm. A pivotal scene unfolds on the rockers on the porch at Maple View's Country Store. Don't wait for the movie; come hear Barbara's inaugural reading at Flyleaf Books on MLK Blvd in Chapel Hill. For more, click here.
Schley Grange Fundraiser (Saturday, August 18th, 5-8 PM.): Homemade food and desserts to create community and raise money for Schley Grange. Schley Grange Hall, eat-in or take out; $8 adults; $4 children.
Paperhand Puppet Intervention presents "City of Frogs" (August 10- Sept 9): Come see Paperhand Puppet's newest production, "City of Frogs", at the Forest Theatre at UNC (sorry no air conditioning) and at the NC Museum of Art.
