Experience the 23rd Psalm through Hatha Yoga

Brenda in Spinal Twist pose
Brenda spinal twist
Greetings!
Last Saturday, the Oratorio did a masterful job of helping us begin to tune into the divine inspiration that is so powerful during the Easter season. This week we are offering a unique yoga class to help you continue your inner journey.

Brenda Gustin, an experienced Ananda Yoga instructor, is deeply inspired by Psalm 23. Brenda says,

Through the practice of Hatha Yoga postures and guided visualization, you will link body, mind and soul to become aware of yet another connection with the Divine.

Brenda's special gift is the creative exploration into the many levels that the science of yoga has to offer. She enjoys sharing this inspiration with others and promises that you will leave feeling relaxed, revitalized, and uplifted.

Testimonial:
Brenda's 23rd Psalm class is the most unique yoga class I've ever attended. She used a line from the Psalm in place of the affirmation we would normally do with each pose. For example, she had us do a supine spinal twist and then read the line, "He maketh me to lie down in green pastures." I was instantly transported to green pastures and could have lain in that pose forever. I had never before felt a connection with the 23rd Psalm other than it's overall poetry. But Brenda's class allowed me to experience the deep spiritual truth of the Psalm. ~P.D.

Peach BlossomsCreate Material Success through Yoga Principles
The topic of this week's class is What Kind of Compromise.

Nayaswami Kriyananda writes,

I urge everyone who wants material success to live by three principles above all:

  • First, work always with a sense of inner freedom.
  • Second, work for overall peace and harmony, even if doing so entails making difficult, though acceptable, compromises.
  • Third, offer up to God the fruits of everything you do.

If you enjoy music, either singing yourself, or sitting quietly while others make music around you, come take part in Ananda's Friday evening chanting sessions, or kirtan in Sanskrit.

The sacred sounds of chants penetrate deeply into the consciousness. They have the power to transform and uplift the soul, and to open the heart. Chanting is an excellent, easy way to lift your spirits, and leave behind the stresses of everyday life. Come for all or part of the evening.
