This month at Life Christian Counseling Network
Greetings!

As Summer winds down, it can be a great struggle to get the kids back to school. Between the school work, the peer pressure, and the clubs, sports and activities our kids participate in, things can become overwhelming very quickly!

Many of our counselors specialize in working with children and teenagers with every kind of issue.

If you think that your child may be struggling with something, but aren't sure if counseling is the right move, check out our FAQ page about whether or not counseling could help your child.

Intern - Dan Zeiss

Dan has been interning with us since the beginning of the Summer, and we couldn't be happier with the incredible progress he's made!

Dan is currently pursuing a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Marymount University in Arlington, VA. He recently completed a practicum placement at Fort Belvoir's Chaplain Family Life Center where he worked with members of the military and their families. He collaborated with clients on a wide range of issues, including those struggling with depression, addiction, couples seeking marriage counseling, and children coping with the deployment of a parent. As a veteran of the Marine Corps, Dan found this experience very rewarding and he will always hold this population very close to his heart. Prior to this, he volunteered at a crisis pregnancy center in Northern Virginia and at the Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute in Falls Church, VA.

As a practicing Roman Catholic, Dan is passionate about integrating the Christian faith with sound counseling approaches that respect the nature and dignity of the human person. He believes that faith and sound science are never opposed to one another, but complement each other to the benefit of the individual. It was during his two years as a seminarian, preparing for the priesthood, that Dan was inspired to change course and pursue a vocation in mental health counseling.

Dan especially enjoys working with adults, and couples looking to prepare for, or improve their marriage. He looks forward to working with a diverse population of clients who share a common belief in the healing power of God. The passage of Scripture that he most identifies with as a counselor is John 15:5: "I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing." This reminds Dan of the importance of humility in the counseling profession and that it is Jesus who is the true healer. Only by remaining connected to the vine that is Jesus Christ can the counselor fully act as a branch that will bear much fruit in his or her work with clients.

In his spare time, Dan enjoys reading, hiking, and exploring the historical sites of Virginia and Maryland.

For this week only, we're offering a special discounted "back to school" rate for new clients of Dan! To find out more about this special deal, give us a call at 1-800-283-4220.

We are so excited to have Dr. Worthington with us this Saturday! The work he has done on forgiveness has made an incredible impact on myself, both personally and professionally. It's easy to say "I forgive you," but not always easy to feel it. Dr. Worthington will help you learn how to do both. This workshop is great for both counselors AND people struggling with this issue in their own personal lives.

It's not too late to sign up! We hope to see you there!
