Greetings!
Spring is finally here! One of our favorite verses describes the exciting transformation we're seeing all around us:
Song of Songs 2:11-13: "See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come with me."
I can think of no more beautiful verse to describe the beginnings of this most wonderful seasonal change. As the flowers begin to reappear, and the sun hovers longer in the sky, we can relate this physical renewal to our own spiritual lives. As God brings beauty and change in the trees and flowers, he longs to do the same in our hearts and minds. Let his love woo you away to spend some quality time with him today.
If you found this mini-devotion uplifting, consider liking us on Facebook. Every Monday we post verses and quotes to help prepare you the week! |

Why do I need counseling when I have the Bible?
As a counseling practice, this is one of the most common questions we get! We wanted to take a minute and explain how some of the tools we use in the counseling room fit in neatly with scripture. Take Romans 12:2 for example: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.." We understand what we're supposed to do: "Renew your mind!" But finding the how is often much more difficult. One of the ways we accomplish this in the counseling room is with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT deals with identifying and transforming "Automatic Thoughts." These are the thoughts that come to us naturally, automatically in any given situation. Dr. Henry Cloud, christian psychologist, renown speaker and co-author the best-selling Boundaries books, takes just a few minutes to describe how understanding more about this fascinating aspect of human behavior can help do exactly what the Bible commands: Renew our minds!

 | CBT and Automatic Thoughts |
One of the goals of Christian counseling is not just to help people think "better" but to think more 'biblically!" Many of our counselors use CBT to help our clients reach their goals and help them change destructive behaviors in their lives. If you have more questions about CBT and how it could potentially help you or someone you know, give us a call at 1-888-283-4220 or send us an email at info@lifechristiancounseling.com.
