Connecting with the Sacred in Animals, Nature and You
December 9, 2010
Billie Dean's Animal Whispers

We are marooned in our own misty Avalon after heavy downpours last night leaving the Braidwood to Canberra road closed.  However, less rain today so far, and sun is coming - so I am intending to be able to make it to my book launch and teaching tomorrow and the weekend!!  Such a different place to the harshness of drought.  We are enjoying having water and grey mists.

Well, this is our Happy Solstice greeting and I wanted to alert you to some special astrological influences currently upon us for the next little while which could cause extra stress and strain which could affect you and if they affect you, they will definitely affect the animals in your care. The article below is a kind of survival guide for the holiday period.

Personally, I've found my sensitivity has increased, and lately when I've been out and about, I have taken to walking out of restaurants and cafes that don't feel right.  I've been a vegetarian for decades and decades, so I got used to eating in (country) places where vegetarian meant a cheese and tomato sandwich. But as I became a vegan, and with the increasing shifts we are having, I'm finding myself a whole lot more fussy about where I can eat, or even be.  And I was also sad to find gelatine in some supposedly healthy foods recently.  Yuk yuk.  Watch out for hidden parts of animals in your food!!  Personally I relate too much to the animals to eat any part of them.

You might check out below for some cruelty-free Christmas ideas.

We are also re-doing my website, which is causing me to think deeply about who I am and who I want to be. This is the time for change, with these astrological influences currently lending a huge hand.  And through a discussion with Andrew and our friend Simon Dow, I realised that my desire to be free, stay free, and live an unlimited life in a wild and free way married well with my desire to make a difference on the planet -- especially for animals and nature.  Because, as I taught in my Animal Shaman Level 2 class, and in my Earthkeepers classes, when we are free, we can see animals in a different light and stop enslaving them. This is at the heart of my book on this entire subject, which will be out soon.

(BTW, I am still trying to sort out my diary and the next Earthkeepers Course in February.  It's a very busy month! More soon.)

This book, interestingly, along with another, has been held up by the people of the Otherworld.  They tell me there is more information to download before going to press.  And so - I await dictation!

I have also been called to my sacred grove, but not allowed in.  I was feeling sad about this as I love my grove, and the trees offer such important wisdom.  But this past week the rains came and cut us off from the world.  We were marooned on a misty isle like Avalon, green and mystical and magical. Perfect writing weather, with hot cocoa, rain on the tin roof and the fire burning.  We cleared the kitchen table of clutter and sat together typing away with the muse very present.

It felt like an omen of times to come -- good times.

Yesterday was the first day that Andrew and I were able to comfortably traverse the creek with the dogs to check the horses.  We got wet up to our knees  and enjoyed entering a magical world where wild horses peeked out of their green valleys and the royalty herd waited for us patiently under  trees, telling me that something had happened in our absence.

The horses are all doing superbly and have even trimmed all their own feet, while our farrier recovers from a serious hand injury. I was surprised and pleased at how good their hooves looked.

And then I went to my sacred grove  --  and to my horror found one of the great trees had fallen.  But the fae were there inviting me in, wanting me to resume my education, now that the danger of falling trees had passed.  i thought about this subtle world of silent whispers and was so grateful I had listened.  It is also a lesson in never taking anything personally -- in everything there are many forces at play.

This. of course, is what the horses were telling me -- that the grove which gave them so much shetler, had changed.

Enjoy the holiday season and let animals and nature take you away from the madness and into calm sanity and joyful embrace of what is.

With much love and many holiday blessings

PS: There is still plenty of time to order a gift for yourself or someone else and have it arrive in time.  Have you gotten Secret Animal Business, This Sacred Earth, Finding Joy, or Time of the Drum, or do you know someone who would enjoy them the way you did? And if you want to order several, please remember to use the special holiday bundle page to get a discount.

Looking forward to seeing Canberra folks at my book launch December 10th and on December 12 for All Things Animal and Shamanism and the Solstice Candle Ceremony

road_2012The Road to  2012 and Intense Astrology for the next bit of the journey

We are in for an interesting time ahead and I really wanted to do some research with my favourite skywatchers to help you make the most of the coming period.

To begin with, there's been lots of what are loosely called Ascension symptoms. If you've been wiped out with fatigue, know you are not alone. Cleansing illnesses - stomach wogs and flus have been giving people an opportunity to cleanse and the dream time has been very busy, making people tired when they wake up. There's also been more physical challenges like bumps, lumps and cell changes. Many of these can be dissolved through simple and heart felt forgiveness.

We are also seeing many more animals leaving us for many reasons - suddenly, sadly, opening hearts with grief and loss, and leaving a trail of lessons from words which should not have been spoken, angers which could have been better directed, and other human guilts making the humans strive to be better. And others have just left because it was their time and they are sensing the pull to the Summer Land or across the Rainbow Bridge, with the increasing intensity of the 2012 Phenomenon. Please know the animals don't want you to feel guilty or feel bad or grieve. They want you to honour their lives with celebration and the most important thing you can do is raise your vibration. Keep your heart open. Shine. This is what they want for you.

It's not easy when their beauty winks out, leaving us berefit. Alone. Wondering. But this, then, becomes a practise in surrender, non-attachment and loving deeply and fully in every sense of that word.

We are now under the influence of Mercury retrograde, intensifying the Christmas madness and communication. So if you feel yourself getting frazzled, please take a breath and go outside and ground in nature. As Anne Hassett says our film This Sacred Earth - "Go hug a tree!"  This really kicks in on December 10, but we feel its influence now.

Then we have the 12:12 gateway on December 12th  -- another opportunity for growth and light downloads making way for the full moon in Gemini/Lunar eclipse on December 21 and the Solstice on December 22.

Expect waves of light codes, according to Soluntra King, and all the star watchers I follow, including Eric Francis, say it is time to go within during this period.

Introspection is called for. So it is a time for completion of the old and celebration of the new. Get yourself to a sacred site or portal or place in the garden or on the beach or in the bush - somewhere where you can access the hands of the Mother and let them embrace you.

Eric says that the influence means that everything has the potential to be doubly stressy - so do what you can to be calm, de-stress, be aware of the chaos of swirling energies. Soluntra says the same.

At the same time the influence is on us to really step into our authentic life. To stop "resisting living" and to design a life for the future.

I really feel that one strongly, and have been wrestling with it for some time. I know what I want, but things have been in the way. Now new influences have come in to really help and I am getting very clear and wildly creative. It's no co-incidence that we are re-designing my website right now. After much thought I've decided what I want is to create a portal for the new world, this new time, and my speciality is my innate gift with animals, nature and the Otherworld. My new website will be a legacy, a trail for others to follow who want to have extraordinary relationships with animals, and to heal them and keep them healthy in this new time.  We want to create a place for all of you to come and "meet" each other and talk animals and spirituality all you want.  As the times continue on toward 2012, we all need our tribes and community.  We need connection with like minded souls.

And I really want my wild elf self to break free and give you all a good laugh to help you raise your vibration - because this is a key to getting where we are going.

The good news, according to Eric, is that there are "two conjunctions that are opening the way to a new world." He say that, "One is Chiron conjunct Neptune, which is about clarifying your vision for your life. The other is Jupitor conjunct Uranus, which is about feeding that vision with new ideas and information."

So he encourages us to "consciously ride this once-in-a-lifetime astrology to a truly creative destination."

At the same time, we are seeing the rise of the deep feminine in 2011, the end of the dark masculine archetype, and the opportunity to come into a beautiful balance with the union of masculine and feminine within us.

Soluntra says: "Be the anchor you truly are and hold the higher frequencies as we move beyond the illusion. .. this eclipse is a powerful doorway of healing and unification and journeying through the Galactic centre and experiencing the new creation. The Galactic Centre is accessed through the stillness within where all is manifest, the crossover point within and without."

She says the energies will be intense, so again, grounding in nature is a good idea. Take care of yourselves!

So from this intense time of inner work, reach out with joy and celebration at the solstice! This is an important time for nature-based spirituality and here in Australia, we'll be enjoying the longest day of the year. Party!

The time between eclipses will be edgy, so really be kind to yourself until January 4, when we have another eclipse. Then you can get back to normal (just kidding - being kind to yourself needs to become a habit!). But the good news is that for the first time in several decades, there are no retrograde planets from December 29. So we will have a lovely break on one level.

Be mindful of how the changes affect you, and know that they do, and that this is all part of the 2012 Phenomenon. Be aware that it's time to master stillness and your emotional state, deal with stress and use the influences to best advantage rather than floundering in a sea of chaos.

Interesting is this concept of creating for yourselves the destiny of your dreams. Think about that this season. What makes you truly happy? I know I have said this over and over again, but now is truly the time to step into who you are becoming and being all you can be. If you are resonating at a high level, thinking creatively outside the box, then you can create a lifestyle that feeds your upward frequency and this in turn helps you manifest. You need peace, joy and love. What makes you feel nurtured and fed?

I think about it in terms of what fills me with passion? What makes my heart pound? What does my soul yearn for? What inspires me? But also what is easy, fun and ticks all the boxes of my personal set of needs? For me family, nature, animals and self-expression are the four big ones, and I'm having fun really getting boldly creative as to how that works for us all. So get going, be creative, get out of your mind and into your heart.

Have a very happy solstice, a productive Full Moon Eclipse, and a quiet, stress-free Christmas!

(And please do check out the web sites of Soluntra King and Eric Francis. Well worth your time.)

xmasTry a cruelty free Christmas this year!

For this holiday season you might like to try vegan or vegetarian recipes to help promote peace for all species.  There are many amazing recipes but  found a wonderful one for  Nut Roast in an old book International Vegetarian Cuisine by Marie Lovejoy.  It used eggs, and I use the product No Egg as a susbstitude at home, but I thought I would simply Google Vegan Nut Roast Recipe and this was the top one.  Or you might find another one to your taste.

We will roast other veges and serve with a green salad from the garden.  For dessert I will make a steam pudding using a vegan version of my grandmother's recipe, and use the No Egg to make a vanilla custard on soy milk -- or we may even buy soy ice cream for the occasion.  And serve with fresh berries and maybe some Vegan chocolate.  Or if it is hot -- lots of garden salad with Andrew's special nut "cheeze" , and dessert of frozen fruits put through the juicer like a gelato without anything bad.  Yum!!

There are a bunch of raw food, vegan and vegetarian holiday recipes on the internet and in fabulous cook books.  Make a stand this year for peace for all species. Break with tradition and consider the birdlife and other animals who would much rather be free than eaten.

While you are at it, say no to Christmas hype.  The true meaning for me is a time for meaningful gatherings of personal tribes, and a time for reflection and giving.  But that doesnt mean a whole lot of plastic and stuff that will just turn to clutter and land fill.  Say "no" to meaningless gift giving as well -- and to the stress of too many visitors and too many commitments.  Especially with the astrology of this year -- it's time to take a step back from commercialism and vote with our dollars for the things that are really important.

For me personally, that's supporting animals and Mother Earth the best I can.

So this year we're doing our best to find homes for animals in need, and will be turning off computers  to enjoy long awaited fiction and movies, cuddled up together  with dogs and cats, long walks in the bush, swims in the now running creek, painting the house with blue non toxic paint, and doing the annual de-clutter.

Here's to a new Christmas paradigm -- one of self nurturing, cruelty-free living and mindful gifts and celebration!!
New Wild Pure Heart Videos

Andrew has been busy editing again.  He's started doing short videos with some of the extra material we gathered when we were shooting the wisdomkeepers in This Sacred Earth.  As I write, there are four of these so far:
Check them out, and maybe leave a comment below one of them if it sparks any thoughts.

Subject: Kittens Needing Help!

Can anyone help me with three (possibly four) starving kittens on a property at Hoskinstown? I came upon them by chance last Thursday. They look to be about 10-11 weeks old.... all backbone & head with nothing to keep their little sides apart they are so hungry!

I have tried all my rescue contacts in Bungendore & Canberra but everyone is full, there are kittens everywhere. Heike has kindly given me your e-mail addresses in the hope that maybe someone somewhere has room!

These little guys are particularly deserving because they are not feral at all..... they are soft & sociable, no hissing, no scratching, no claws out.... would just be content with a full belly & a snuggle.

Please contact me if you can help or pass on my details to anyone interested...... this little family is urgent!

Kath Sherburne sent through a petition in support of Canadian vet Dr. Andrew Jones, who was, as Kath described it, "Recently forced to close his business and is being fined $30,000 because he SPEAKS THE TRUTH against the drug companies and the over prescribing of vaccinations which are affecting the health and well-being of dogs and cats." If you want to help, you can sign this Facebook petition or this non-Facebook petition.

Alexandria Bailey sent in this call for a home or aviary equipment for 25 lovebirds from Taryn.

Hey Alexandria!

I'm just wondering if you know anyone who would be able to provide a great home for 25 lovebirds?

I know a breeder who, for the last couple of years, has been passing on lovebirds that have

a feather loss condition- which I have seen improve over time with a stress-free environment

and excellent nutrition.

He's just phoned me this morning with these 25 new birds who are losing their feathers at a rapid rate- (I believe the set-up they're is a very stressful one - so I'm not surprised)

I would normally take these lovebirds on myself, but I've completely run out of aviary/cage space...:(

So now I am needing to find them the perfect home.

If anyone in my local area of the Sunshine Coast QLD  has any aviaries they would like to donate - I can take them on myself

If you know anyone Alexandria, could you please pass on my :

email address  :  -

and/or phone number : 0422 609 610.

Thanks again hun - keep up the great work that you do!

Love and peace,

Do You Have an Animal Whispers Community Announcement?

You've noticed that from time to time I include announcements  that I think might be of interest to readers.  If you have something that you think is relevant to the Animal Whispers community, email it to Andrew, and we'll have a look at it, and possibly include it.  Mark it "Animal Whispers Submission" in the subject line.

Gratitudes and Wish List

I wanted to thank Robert McDowell Herbal Treatments for their discount  on the healing herbs I am currently buying for the senior dogs and a horse with a cushings challenge.  We could do with another round of these to take us through the Christmas season.  Please talk to Kate who knows what we need.

As for the wishlist...

Anyone have a pair of horse clippers (not trimmers), or can clip a horse for us?  Our Montana is hot with her long, hairy coat.  I spent a couple of hours with kitchen scissors giving her a textured haircut like mine -- now she just needs a bit of hair wax for the full effect (grin!).  But if you can help us,  she would be most grateful.

Rosehips are also high on the agenda as we go through a lot of these with the horses here.  And also all wound supplies like bandages and poultices.  Also natural wound healers like manuka honey, paw paw and aloe vera.  And other horse supplements like Tuffrock, both inner and outer,  kelp, garlic, applecider vinegar and garlic and so on.

Thanks so much again for our regular sponsors -- we soooo appreciate you.  The global financial situation has seen a drop in sponsors, and despite the good season we can always do with more donations to help keep our services to the animal world running (hey, there's a gift-giving idea!).  Thanks so much everyone!
Billie Dean with Gypsy

Until next time!  Happy holidays!!
